I'll be there opening weekend sans Viking garb. Northmen do not function well in Texas heat.

Not likely to be hot opening weekend

lol, if it is over 75 it is hot.

I'm praying that it cools off.
As history shows, opening weekend's temps can be anywhere from 34 to 84 (if not hotter.)  Today the high was only 84 (at the Waxahachie Airport), but with no wind & full sun on the Ivanhoe stage, it felt like at least 94 or more.  Just to stay hydrated, I drank 5 bottles of water (some with flavor mix) in just 6 hours.  So I'm really hoping the highs are not much more than 75 in the next month!
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

Was just informed yesterday by the Evil Wench herself that we will be going one weekend this year. Just not sure which.....decisions, decisions.... :P

Also do not know what kit to bring - Hospitaller, Highlander, or gentleman Pirate. Sooooo many choices, and all too darn HOT!!!

Any suggestions for particular weekend and/or kit, please feel free to comment.

FYI - Scarby was the Lady's home faire for 20+ years, and the 1st we shared together. ;D

My suggestion is bring the hottest gear on the first 2 weekends... after that...it's pretty much 100 degrees every day.

Also...one tip for maximizing your Scarby experience and minimizing your heat strokes .... when you enter the gate...go left. Do as much as possible on that side of the fair before lunch. The left side is the hot side. See all the early shows in Holly field first (if possible) then slowly make your way to Crown Meadow...also a good place to eat. Then cross the bridge over to Pecan grove and enjoy the most shaded areas.

BUT ...and listen to my but.... you must return to Holly Field at 4 for Scottish Court.

Can never go wrong with Highlander, Everyone knows we have the most fun.

Why was I thinking Scottish Court was held in the Pecan Grove...near the Maypole? Did I imagine that, or have they moved in recent years?

Thank you DC. Will have to say that the last time we did Scarby in a kilt, we got invited to tag along with the Royal Scots Guard in the parade. Truely enjoyed actually being a part of the proceedings for a change.

Ya' know Rani....I hear that all the time. Usually followed by "As long as you show some leg". L says it's something about a well-turned Scottish calf. :P :-*

It looks as if Transylvania will have to catch a different ship across the Caspian. The one we have has a hole in it, due to Herman's thunderfooting late at night. Repairs have taken longer than expected. We will be missing Opening Weekend and aiming for the first weekend in May. I'll keep everyone posted :D

I was looking forward to a little neck nibbling at the hotel opening weekend...oh, well.  Nim would probably have gotten a little tight-jawed over that anyway...

Wouldn't that sort of require the Highland garb, then?  :D  Leg or not, we'd love to see you both there!  ;)
