So, I posted earlier that I would be playing drums this year on the Ivanhoe for the Star Dancers show.  So far, the only day I know for sure I will be there is this Sunday.  (Barring any major injury, I will be out to play a lot more, probably mostly Sundays.)

Show times are at 10:30, 12, 2, 4 & 5:30Hopefully we will not have the dancing mermaid show, plus the wet stuff is bad for drums and really hard to play in!

got in late today, but I did get to see sarah mullen, the harpist, and did a few court dances.  In a hotel nearby so I should be able to get there in time for tailgate/opening for tomorrow. As for tonight, contra dance in dallas!

Wow, what an openeing day!
I know I missed a few people, I saw Elo briefly at Hugh O'Neil's show but didn't get a chance to say hi.
I apologize if I passed up anyone who saw me. Got to meet Triple A, a great gentleman. Merlin and Lady Nimue looked splendid despite the warm weather. Merlin the younger and his lady Ouida were dressed to the nines, I was so glad that they could make it.
Archer and Lady Elaine were very gracious and a lot of fun. Lady Amy (Aimee?) was gorgeous, and courageous, in her new white Tudor gown. Drac didn't look too bad either, LOL. It is always good to see Lady Kett and Sidekick, they are a lot of fun. Bagpipe Babe (Cinda) was wearing a new and beautiful Tudor gown as well.
I might have left out a few names....not intentional by any means.
Tartanic had a once in a lifetime show.
If you were there at 10:30, you know what I mean.  :o
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible next week.

Funny you should mention that... we had to leave early so as to make it home. It was rumbling as we pulled away shortly past 2pm. When I was filling Homer, the Odyssey, for the trip home, I thought I'd been hit, the lightning struck so close. As we pulled out onto the highway, the bottom dropped out. I saw some really evil looking cloud formations too...there weren't any more tornadoes in the area, were there?

If it rained as hard at Scarby as it did on the highway, you must have looked like drowned rats! But, hope everyone came through it okay.

As opening days go, it was really great! A bit warm for my taste, but I enjoyed the sleet at Sherwood...I am a warped wizard, to be sure. Archer and his bride made a surprise visit to Scarby, and pardon my correction, Doña, but Archer's wife is Moyra on the boards, and Caroline in person, but yeah...we had a great time showing them around, and they enjoyed your company as well! The four of us went out to dinner after the faire, then came back to the Hampton and had cocktail hour...or two. We talked behind everyone's back, and you'll be pleased to know, not a nasty word was spoken about anyone!

BagpipeBabe, I hope you're getting over your shyness. These people will suck the shy right out of your being. I'm a total introvert, if you can imagine that!

I think Nimue would like an 8x10 (if that is large enough) of the photo that was taken—I think that's what Doña Catalina is referring to—at the Tartanic show.

Genta, didn't catch you, but not sure I would have know you. I believe we were driving behind you as you pulled out of the parking lot Saturday...I saw Minnesota plates.

Met a few new people...BryanPop, I think? ...Please pardon if I've gotten names mixed up...I don't always hear everything people are saying...

yep mn plates on a red suzuki sx4.  I'm probably the only one crazy enough to drive to/from mn.  I only saw teach and saw var in the parade.  I got in late, about 1030 or so.  Oh and I was the only person wearing a purple elizabethan tall toad hat.  Did a lot of dances, saw some music and walked around a lot.

maybe I'll be back for memorial day heat stroke, but probably only if I have  a carpool lol.  Otherwise... Until next year.

I meant to mention also... I had a couple of folks stop me (at different times) and say hello on the Holly Field end of Scarby Saturday morning...both Scots, if I remember correctly. You had me at a distinct disadvantage. If we had crossed paths before, I have had a R.A.M. failure in that portion of my brain. As we parted, Nimue asked "who was that?" and I was forced to reply "I haven't a **expletive deleted** clue."  Many of you don't post your photo as your avatar, and some post photos that were current during the Reagan years... Help an old phart out!  ;)

If you did speak to me this weekend, please let me know who you are on the boards...it will help to slow down the commitment proceedings...

One other plug, then I'm going to bed so that I can get back up  in 6 hours...
Danielle Guinn, the new Scarborough marketing guru, is an absolute and total delight. And stay tuned, because I'm going to be saying a whole lot of things about her next week, and they'll all be nice. She has really been wonderful ...and incredibly patient... helping Nim and I with our big party....

I promised Lady Kett that I'd post something stupid...
Okay, Luv, how's this? Explain to me how Sidekick is going to participate in forming a sword arch, and walk under it at the same time? He's got to do it at least twice this year, so I must assume he's figured out how...I'll need an answer by Saturday...

Who got wet on Sunday?
I got a bit wet running back to the BDT shop after our 2 o'clock show about 2:30, as it was just beginning to come in.  It rained pretty hard for about half an hour.  We had to get back out into it to go get food, but it wasn't too heavy by then.  It pretty much stopped by about 3:45 when we had to prep for the 4 o'clock show.  We did get sprinkled on during the last 2 shows, but it didn't last long.  All in all we stayed pretty dry for as wet as it was!

A child after my own heart! It did rain. We hung out under the pavilion near the Captains Pub for a bit, then wandered out with Prodigal Daughter and friends in tow to see some shows. We didn't make it to Pub Sing though. The temp had dropped enough that being damp also meant being cold, LOL.

Merlin - that's Sidekick's problem. I happen to be on good terms with a few wizards. If he can't figure it out, he'll have to choose. We can just hope he chooses the right option each day! :)

It was so great to see everyone this weekend and meet some new folks! I really do not want to go back to the real world this morning!!

Yep....walked by us with that "dazed" look on your face. I waved, but had a face full of chicken at the time and couldn't say anything. Hehe. The Lady was dressed as a fairy on Saturday, so you would not have recognized us anyway. Sounds like we missed a number of folks. Just chilling ourselves and not paying much attention to anything in particular as we only had a few hours of sleep Friday night. Loverly weather and an awesome drive from Houston with all the wild flowers in bloom.

captmarga

No more tornadoes, but the Faire was a chilly mudpit by the end of day.  Had some FABULOUS diehards that stuck it out all the way through.  We entertained people huddled under pavilions, encouraged them to play in mud puddles, sang and danced in the rain.

The cast plays in rain or shine!   Thanks to those who stayed!

I'm not sure of the purple mage to whom I spoke in the lanes (with the potion bottles round his neck) but we both established ourselves as readers here on forum by quoting posts of Spell Books and Newts...

So the gypsy with the fancy headpiece (along with several others, including the grumpy fellow in the red turban) was Me - aka Jofranka Whispersteppe.

I still haven't caught up to you, Captain!  If we hadn't been facing a 5+ hour drive home Sunday afternoon, we would have been there for the puddles. But, we'll be back this weekend...  Tell me where you hide, Marga!

By the way... someone forgot the parade Sunday... The first time in a while that I was camera ready, too! Shucks!  :D
