Right now, I have about a gallon and a half of traditional mead (this particular one is dry), a gallon of mild Jalapeno wine, a gallon of medium Jalapeno wine, a gallon of hot jalapeno wine, and a half-gallon of Grapefruit-pineapple wine that are all fairly close and ready for a debut

I also have a strawberry wine and a couple of gallons of sweeter mead that are RIGHT out of ferment...  drinkable, but not aged

The Jalapeno wine is really meant to be a winter/cold day drink!  It's definitely got a bit of a kick!  (Which if our spring continues the way it has been, it could snow on opening weekend!  haha!) But the kick is definitely why I made the three different types!  It's also nice because it doesn't really need to age quite like other fruits do.  Just long enough for the alcohol to mellow out!

so...  who's interested in trying my wines?  Which ones?

It wouldn't be the first time!  I can't remember what year it was, but there WAS an opening weekend in not-so-distant memory when it snowed!

I'm a mead sort of man.  Prefer sweet but always willing to try anything.  Just got back from Korea where I tried soju and picked up some honey and plum liqueur in Japan.  Last time was Japan, brought back three different sakes and Japanese Scotch.

Always packing something new and different in my flask.  Next should be Nassau Royal Liqueur.  Always looking to add to my collections  ;D

Ha haa haaaa! I remember that. That was the first and ONLY time I ever had to wear an extra layer of clothing UNDER my garb_ and I STILL nearly froze. LOL!

Right?!

What year was that, anyway? Does anyone remember?

Oh, I sure hope it's not THAT cold!  We barely have any garb yet as we are still newbies collecting a piece here and there!  If that's the case, we'll end up having to go mundane!

OK...
The Mead and Jalapeno are the only ones that will be ready to go for opening weekend.  The others will be ok, but will be better by closing weekend

So, Catalina, your choice...  Do you want to try the strawberry on opening weekend or Closing weekend...  Strawberry needs to age about 4-6 months or so and go through 3-4 rackings...  It's drinkable right now, but as it gets older the flavor will mature...  currently it's fresh out of ferment, and only racked once...  by closing weekend, it will have cleared up a LOT and will have gone through another rack.  Also, it's fairly dry as well... but I may sweeten it up a bit just before bottling

Drac - Yeah I'm a big dry, full-bodied wine fan.  So my meads follow suit...  I have a sweeter batch, but it's JUST out of ferment and will not be close to tasty for at least 3 months.  That being said: they are pretty decent though for a noobie!  I had a buddy of mine buy a $20 bottle, and said mine was really comparable.  I have another buddy that has done SCA for more than a decade, and said it compares really well to all the meads he's had.  Only one I ever had was at Scarby, which was really sweet!  So I have nothing to compare it to
