I actually think a dozen will be enough, or maybe 18? How many did you take home Sunday?
I took home 0, but only gave out one!  Haha!  These things are dang good!

"Why is the Rum always gone?!?"
*stumbles*
"Oh yeah, that's why!"

Hello there, everyone! this is off topic a bit, but not really, considering evrryones breakfast of choice. :)

I rarely drink at faire, but I feel as though it would be much more fun if I did. I have been offered plenty, and taken, but I don't want to be that guy that always drinks peoples things but never has anything to offer... so to alleviate this, I plan on bringing a bottle (or 2) of something, but I don't drink enough really to know what to get. Any suggestions? Brand name would be helpful, as opposed to 'rum' or 'whiskey'... hehe I guess agood way to phrase this is : "if I were offering you a drink, what would you want it to be?" :D

Thanks in advance everyone! Excited about this weekend!

Sailor Jerry's Spiced Rum is my all-time favorite!  That or "The Kraken" Black Spiced Rum is decent as well!

Pyrate XO is a very good straight rum for a decent price. If you want to step that up Ron Zacapa is just about the best rum I've ever had.
Flavored rums (Parrot Bay etc.) are great for sharing for people who dont drink much because they rarely have that burn. Just smoothness. Parrot Bay makes a 90 proof coconif you want to knock people out quickly.
Sailor Jerry is good, Kraken is ok. I prefer Captain Morgan for spiced rums though.
Tattoo is a good unusual rum.
Mount Gay is a good one but not always easy to find.

*thats the 2 minute off the top of my head rum list*

At Fair I only drink wine and brandy. But in the morning most people either fall into the Scotch camp or the beer camp, usually. I was considering bringing some coca cola vodka to share at some point. I got it for new years and then we forgot all about it.
Forty Creek Canadian whiskey is a good choice in the less expensive variety though its price is climbing. Relatively new, the maker studied in Scotland to be a master distiller.

Teach, you might also post what NOT to bring for the uninitiated.

Thanks Ravic I'm going to stick VERY close to the list, but I would also love to know the faux pas drinkies as well...

and since flavor/experience was brought up, I like the idea of the parrot bay (being sweeter and easier to take) however I can't stand coconut rum! haha is there a sweeter spiced rum? somewhere between capt morgan secret stock, and parrot bay... hahah you guys seem like the ones to ask!

If you're looking for a sweet spiced Rum, I would advocate Sailor Jerry's it's nice and Rummy on the front, but a nice sweet caramelly aftertaste!  VERY pleasant to drink

then again, I'm not NEARLY as well versed as Teach...  So, what do you think Teach?  S.J.'s a good start for what Oswyn is describing?

Sailor Jerry isn't bad. It's really a matter of choice and taste on that.
SJ, Capt Morgan, Cruzan & Bicardi all fit that bill for sweet but not pricey.
The real question is do you want a darker rum like Myers or Old Monk with heavy flavor or a clear like Bicardi etc. with lighter flavor.
If I were introducing a newbie rum drinker I would spend a few extra (literally like 3-4 more) and go with Pyrate XO reserve. It's a gold rum that's kind of between them all with good all around smooth flavor.

On the DO NOT DO list is *gag* potters "rum". Nasty arse crap that is.
Price matters on rums. The cheaper they are the worse the flavor. *gag* potters is damn near free.

*Perhaps I may bring some Ron Zacapa rum so you can taste what heaven is like*

FoxFire

We've never done the tailgate before, I'm hoping we will be able to mobilize out of the hotel early enough to make it. I assume we should then head over to the FoF parking lot and look for you all (after parking in our plebian location, lol)? I'm also wondering if anyone has any good suggestions of something to bring, it must travel well and not require refrigeration as we will be travelling down from OKC Friday and spending the night in a hotel. I look forward to seeing you all there!
