For those of us in the Houston/Galveston area, get ready, he's coming!

Just came back from Walmart to get some supplies, the canned food isle was absolute madness.   :o  For some reason, every single person was determined to take their cart down the isle with them...I left mine at the end and walked down to grab what I needed.  If I had already done my grocery shopping, I wouldn't have been concerned, but the cupboards were looking a little bare. ::)

My only concern is whether or not I should actually be attempting to go in to the office in the morning.  Reports are saying "nonessential" personell should be sent home, but then again, my boss seems to think that the outside sales reps can't do their jobs if I am not chained (figuratively, although sometimes I wonder) to my desk.

After we shut down the Labs at NASA where I work on Monday morning, I packed the car and left Houston to stay with some friends near Austin.  We may get some rain here on Tuesday or Wednesday, but there shouldn't be any 70-80 MPH winds like the forecast for Galveston & Houston!  ;D

The only traffic jams I saw this time (compared to leaving for Rita) was one on 610 near the Galleria, due to a wreck, and the usual afternoon slowdown on 290 between 610 and 1960.  Other than that, not too much traffic on the road Monday afternoon.

Take Care,

I'm at work this mourning and ready to battle the strom this evening going home.

I've got my Dad's place ready and ours too. Looks like we might get more of it than Houston, up here in Montgomery county. We're more worried of being without lights and water for a few days than anything else.
Don't forget to smell the roses, but watch out for the thorns!

I'm kind of on the borders of Harris, Liberty, and Montgomery counties...  (live in Humble/Atascocita/Kingwood area), and I work on the SW side of Houston which means I have to drive through downtown regardless of where the storm is.  My boss is an idiot.

My daughter is staying home. The plant where she was supposed to work today is 'essential personnel only' because they expect flooding and power outages around Kemah.

We just got a bit of rain (still raining, actually) over here in Lafayette. My sister lives in Porter (that's just north of Kingwood, TX) and I'm waiting anxiously to here from her, since she's stuck at home with a newborn (7 weeks) and a four year old while her hubby is at work across town.

I'll take some of that rain up here in Dallas! :)  Stay safe everyone.

West Houston checking in. Located right outside Beltway 8 and I 10. We've got a light drizzle, nothing major yet. I did have to work today, but my children and husband are at home with my mother. Work is located off of 290 and Antoine, a 15 minute jaunt from the Galleria. Man, I tell you what, traffic was a BREEZE this morning. I sure wish I could have stayed home...

I'm actually at work right now (Harwin and Corporate near the Beltway 8) On the SW side of Houston..  Wife just told me by phone it is still raining in our area and so far, nothing too bad happening.  (I'm still waiting for my boss to say "go Home".

Looks like Houston/Galveston are on the "good" side of the storm so far. On the other hand, my folks are just north of Port Arthur and are just getting dumped on... Dad says it looks like you can just walk out the front door and start swimming.
Wind hasn't been very bad though, considering we were where the center of Rita hit it takes more than a storm named Eddie to make the folks nervous.
