Rowan MacD

Butch-I've read just about everything she has out, and I can say for certain that her earlier novels in the Anita Blake series (there is even a comic book series by Marvel for this character) were better than the later ones.

You would love the Tremaire series.

I finally picked up The Wrecking Crew, by Kent Hartman. It's about the studio musicians (including a young Glen Campbell) who played on hundreds of early rock n'roll recordings. The theme for the summer reading program in my library is "Reading to the Rhythm" and I wanted to keep music as the theme for my books. I love bios and history, and am finding it fun reading. There is a documentary now, too, and our library will be getting that, as well. Should be good!

Merlin the Elder

Funny you should mention Wrecking Crew. Yesterday morning I was telling Nimue about the Wrecking Crew after we watched a video of Glen Campbell and Roy Clark tearing up Ghost Riders in the Sky. "I had no idea Glen Campbell could play like that," says she.

An accomplished bassist as well as guitarist, he played the lead on Wichita Lineman with a Fender Bass VI, backed by The Wrecking Crew. He also toured with The Beach Boys for a short period, and played guitar on the classic Pet Sounds album.

Jack Daw at Work

I'm in the middle of two books:

- The Personal Memoirs of General U.S. Grant;
- Eisenhower - by by Geoffrey Perret.
Steve "Jack Daw" McIntyre

"The honour the Sleat Carpenter obtained...is still preserved for his descendants."

I had gotten the Perret book for my library; it was very well-reviewed, I think. I'm in the process of weeding the 900 section again; I'm pretty sure I'd kept this the first time I'd gone through it.

I"m on the fourth installment of Candace Robb's Owen Archer series, and it's called The King's Bishop. Very enjoyable series. I've also finally gotten myself the last of the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett, called The Shepherd's Crown,, but I don't know when I'll really read it. It will be hard to read it, knowing it's the last one ;)

Elkyn

I've recently started re-reading the original Shanarra trilogy (Sword of, The Elfstones of, The Wishsong of...). They were always favorites of mine.

Trillium

I'm still slogging my way through the newer installments of the Drizzt series.  Having a harder time staying interested, I think maybe the stories have gotten too serious, not enough comedic breaks.  I've also discovered a love of historical mysteries.  Been reading Will Thomas' Barker and Llewellyn series (set in Victorian London) and really enjoying it.

Sir Ironhead

Hey Trillium,
Where are you at in the series?  I have read all of them and agree that at one point they turned from being a fun fantasy reads to being gloomy and too serious with Wulgars alcoholism and the central characters getting old...
