We do a communal dinner for our shop help and their significant others after hours. A friend who is an old friend of my wife called me today to say he and his business partner are plotting with one of our shop slaves (who has wholesale fish supplier connections) to surprise my wife and do Sushi for the shop later in the run. They are plotting to bring in one of the chefs from Sushi Tango to coordinate things. My wife got a promotion this spring (no promotion goes unpunished) and she's been really stressed at work and working 50, or more hour per week, and it will be a really neat treat/surprise for her just because they love us.  :-* :-*

That's awesome, Groomporter.   I've always wanted to do something like having an after hours shindig, but with only the three of us for our booth, it's not really feasible.  However, maybe I should bring a little BBQ grill, that way I can "accidentally" burn down the new tent after hours... ;D ;D ;D

Do it before 3rd weekend so I can watch Colin (who is a firefighter in the military) burn himself (again) putting it out.

Maybe those of us who work at Fest could come together to have our own after hours shindig...
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

And for those w/ after-hours access, The Dregs do their annual "Dregs In The Dark" show usually on the Saturday night of 5th weekend (looks like September 13th this year) at Mac's Pub.  It's usually pretty crowded, but that place becomse fairly magical when lit all up by candlelight...

We try to grill out beforehand as well...

I've been meaning to ask which weekend that was going to be. Last year I was dragged to it and loved it. It was lots of fun.

Man I wish the wife and I could go to that. This working at the bar on weekends can really bite sometimes.

Can we watch I mean, I'll dial 9-1-1  for you. (after that thing is done burning, and we're done laughing...)

GP-that is cool.  I hope this happens for your wife's sake.  It sounds like she will LOVE it!

That would be uber-awesome!  I bring the grill and stuff to throw on said grill...anything extra is welcome and appreciated!

Rachel, I will figure out something.
I am not a good cook (seriously, I can't boil water), but I love to bake and can handle a salad or something veggie related.    AND I have a camp stove in my uncle's booth if needed.

Just keep us posted.

Mac's by candlelight would be a very cool sight - wish we could get in!
It's always time for Chardonnay!

We usually start at about 9pm...feel free to show up earlier to get a seat inside.  It fills up pretty fast, even when we let people up in the loft for the "peanut gallery" seating...

Oh hey Atysmee....it would be in your best interests never ever to touch the table against the back wall underneath the stairs ever again.  I saw things happening on that table Saturday night not even a toothbrush and bleach to the brain will ever erase.  The image....it burns.
