With the extension of the local Renaissance season by 4 weeks, with the economy being so bad, an gas prices being so high, would you go to both parties this year, one of them, or not at all?

I would attend just the Gathering

We have been invited back to Captain Hooks food and Spirits for the Renaissance Gathering as well as the Renaissance Masqued Dinner.  However, between an awful economy, raising gas prices, and an extra 4 weeks at festival, it has been brought to our attention that it may not be necessary to have the Renaissance Gathering anymore, but to still have the Masqued Dinner to celebrate the end of the year.  We would like to have your honest opinion on it.  Please let us know how you feel about the two parties and if you would still go even with the economy and the extension of the local Ren Season.

The Renaissance Gathering is a party held in Frankenmuth after Faire is over as another excuse to dress in garb and get together.  We parade through town, then convene at Capt Hooks for the actual party.  The food is good and reasonablly priced and they have good staff and drinks.

The Masque is anther party scheduled around the New YEar's and is the same concept, only we wear masks, hence the name!  Good fun, Here's a link to my pictures from last year.

It would also mean getting accomadations  for the evening which is getting expensive with the holidays coming.

Since Sir William and I can only attend one party out of the two, I would say keep the Masquerade at the end of the year. We went to the Gathering but missed the other :( This year if we get to go it would probably be to the Masquerade and not the Gathering.

Lord Virgil

In the poll, I voted that I would attend both (unless something unexpected came up).  If I had to choose one or the other, I would say keep the Masque as it is later in the year and the Gathering is scheduled close to the end of Mid-Michigan (the new Faire).

If health and weather conditions allow, I would be more likely to attend the Masque. :)

I sent you a PM with the details about the Masque and Gathering, these both being post-faire events.

As far as the daily meet and greets, we meet at the Things from Rings booth next to the bridges where the troll sits.

Aye, there was a group of us there this past Saturday also, and as always, the staff is awsome and welcomes up with open arms, the food is magnificent and the prices are so very affordable.  They are already talking up a storm about having our large group back!!
