Vegetarians, don't look.

I'm trying to be as veggie as I can be out of respect for a certain person in my life (who's not here at the moment).  But other important people in my life are still carnivores.  Like my 15 year old.  Since he spent Thanksgiving with his dad and I had today off, I'm making us one of his favorite meals that is time-consuming to cook, although it's not labor-intensive.

I'm making pork chop and potato casserole...You slice a few (3 or 4) baking potatoes very thin.  Mix a can of cream of celery soup and three heaping tablespoons of sour cream.  Layer 1/2 the potatoes in a 9x13 baking dish, salt and pepper them and then add half the sour cream mixture.  Repeat.  Bake for 90 minutes in a 350 oven.  Caramelize two salted and peppered butterflied pork chops in some olive oil, about 5 minutes per side on high heat, then add to the top of the potatoes, cover with foil and bake another 30 minutes.  We'll have some mixed veggies on the side and flan for dessert.

VENI, VIDI, VELCRO! Spelling and grammatical errors are beyond my control, it's the way I'm wired.

Zoë

Would be leftovers, but I had to go back to my apartment today to do all my homework.  Sad.  So instead it's a chicken pot pie, and maybe a bit of the stuffing I managed to bring back with me.

Lamb stew and cheddar-chive biscuits.  I also made turkey burgers and mashed potatoes and zucchini spaghetti.  Busy week ahead, so I cooked ahead!

What I know them as ...
neeps = boiled and mashed turnips or rutabagas
tatties = boiled mashed potatoes
I've had them with haggis ... very good!  ;D

Tonight there will be marinated steaks, redskin potatoes with dill, green and yellow beans with carrots, pasta, and chilled pears.

Bodharan

Four small plates: (1) Prawns a la plancha with creamy crab rice and lemon garlic butter, (2) Katafi-crusted crab cake with citrus-marinated cabbage and caper-tarragon aioli, (3) Green Garlic and mascarpone ravioli with lemon butter, cherry tomatoes, solera elixir, and parmesan, (4) Kurobata pork shortrib with cauliflower mousse, pickled red onion marmalade, and truffle jam.

Oh wait that was Friday at Cortez.  Tonight it was 3 pieces of all white from Kentucky Fried, original recipe.

Just looking for a good hat.
