Thanks! I'm trying to convince myself to take today off, just sit around snuggled under a blanket and watch Christmas movies with my kiddo.  ;D Hot Chocolate anyone?
Fairyfly you most certainly do deserve a day off to relax, and by the way I'll take a cup of hot chocolate if you don't mind. ;D

I think that should about cover it.  Marshmallows, cinnamon, Whipped Cream and such are included!  ;D

Here's a true sign of just how stressed I am. I lost a day somewhere, thought today was Sunday. Fortunately a great friend pointed out that it was indeed Monday before all was lost.

I finally heard back from AI DuPont today. Only to be told that I can't make an appointment for Tiger to be seen until her insurance is set up... The forms for that have been filled out online and I'm waiting for a response. Tomorrow I'm calling my Dr. and seeing if she'll allow Tiger to come in for a check up. Her blood sugar levels have been pretty decent since she got here. Today we had one small spike after she ate the wrong pudding.  ::) But it was caught pretty quickly and corrected. I just had to deal with the Hyper Goofy Kid for a while until the insulin caught up with her. Lol

Things are finally starting to turn around and get settled.  I took my Daughter with me to my Dr today, and she's willing to take her on as a new patient. Her office is going to help get the state insurance coverage that I've been trying to get, and they are going to help get her an appointment to see the endocrinologist at AI Dupont hospital since that is the only one in this area.

Tomorrow she's getting her school registration finished and will be starting school this week. Thursday she gets her physical done for the school as well.

I'm so VERY grateful that things are finally getting done! I've been trying so hard and not getting any where. YEY for the renewed faith that there are people who care out there!

I'm so glad you're starting to see the light again, sweetie, and that things are starting to happen for the better, finally! I knew that once you got her home and started settling in to the new place things would start to turn around. Now you'll both be able to get into a routine and things will get even easier every day, especially when you find yourselves a local support group!

Take care of yourselves, hon, and enjoy your Holidays all together! You're doing a really great job!!!  ::HUGS::

Ah school, a wee bit of normalcy is always good. You and little one remain in my evening discussions with the Boss. Do keep us up to date and with a bit of luck I hope to see you both next season at faire.

Thanks Zemirah! I'm very relieved to say the least. Although still not sleeping too well. The proof was me putting my morning coffee single in the microwave... starting to smell a really bad smell with a hint of coffee to it, then taking the cup out to find that I put the coffee single in alright, but forgot to add the water.... Oi... I love the new avatar as well, a friend took a picture that was taken of us at faire two days before he left for training, and fiddled around with it. I'm printing it so he can take a copy with him when he goes out of country.

Amy, good news is awesome! You and your family have a great Holiday as well!

Tygr, it's having people like you encouraging me and offering suggestions, that's been helping to keep me sane! That and playing with Zemirah and Co round the fire pit! Tee hee But honestly, I don't think I remember what 'normal' feels like. I might mistake it for being on vacation. Lol

Lord W, I really can't thank you enough for all the thoughts and prayers you've been sending. You've been such a great cheerleader since this started and I really appreciate it! Although I promise not to give you pom poms.  :P

Hibernian, I'm not sure if, or how far out we might be traveling when faire season rolls around. I'll let you know what the plan is when I've got a better idea. Thank you for talking to the Boss for me! With all the warm thoughts, prayers and energies, I think someone is beginning to listen!

First Day of School

Well, yesterday was a bit of a nightmare. Lol Phoeny's day started out pretty good, but rapidly went down hill from there. Her school nurse decided to test her around 9:30am because she was refusing to get out of her seat in art class. Her blood sugar reading was 400! That's a scary place for her to be and action should have been taken. Instead of calling me, or having her drink water or anything, she sent her back to class. I didn't find out until I went in to make sure everything went well during her lunch time, at 11:30am. At that time her blood sugar reading was 176, which is 6 points above her "normal" range, which is perfectly fine. But, as I expected, she threw an absolute fit on us and was refusing to get tested, or eat her lunch. We dealt with her as best as could be done, and she went on with her day.

Needless to say, my confidence in the school nurse went from not too good, to zip. We had a Dr appointment for her later in the evening and went over what happened and what needed to be done. In the mean time, I wrote up a step by step instruction sheet on how her testing should be done, including that the nurse has to call me when ever Phoeny is tested and let me know what her reading is, and then the nurse has to follow my instructions as given at the time. From my observations, the nurse is no where near up to date on how to care for a diabetic child. I also took a suggestion from Caria {THANK YOU!!!} and created a form for the nurse to fill out for me with all pertinent information about her testing and the supplies she's useing. Now, this morning I had over a two hour conversation with the nurse about our need to be on the same page, my lack of confidence in her abilities, and just how bad it was for her to not have called me yesterday morning. By the time the conversation was over with, I felt a lot better about the situation and that the nurse is going to be in much better contact with me. I'm also putting together an information packet for her to study so that she is more up to date on diabetes information and technology today.

Other then that, things are going well and definitely starting to come together much nicer.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and happy Holiday!

Hey hon, sorry to hear you guys had another rough one, but I'm glad it got you to jump on the nurse about her actions, or lack thereof!!! I'm not sure what the Natl. standard is for the training of school nurses, but any sort of medical condition they may encounter should be covered in their training before they're turned loose on a school population!!! I'm also glad you've been educating not only yourself and your daughter, but also anyone who will be helping Phoeny to keep herself healthy from now on! You're doing great, and I hope you realize how far you, personally, have come from when you first learned of all this...

May you find Joy in all the celebrations of this Holiday Season, and all those to come!

I'm sending you more hugs to get you through any more little hiccups!

Thanks for the update sweetie.I'm sorry that things went so bad for you with the school nurse yesterday. You are right she should have contacted you asap once Phoeny's testing was complete.I hope things get better for you with the school and the situation itself.Remember like I said before I will always be pulling for you no matter what the situation is so you and your little one continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

May you two have a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy, prosperous new year.I look for nothing but good things to happen to you two in 2009.Hugs to you both.

Thank you so much for your continued support Lord W and everyone!

Friday school went about 50% better. I got called in at lunch time because little one was fighting so bad with the nurse about getting her shot. When I dropped little one off in the morning, I stayed and had a two hour conversation with the nurse and got her on the same page finally! We called it truce and moved on to a fresh start. I feel so much better now!

This morning... was interesting...

Little kid lost one of her front teeth last night, it's been hanging on for the last couple of weeks. Lol So this morning she woke up to a Tooth Fairy gift! Getting her ready for school went really well! She was actually not fighting or throwing a fit!!!

We got out the door, went to the Wawa up the street for bottled water for her lunch, came back out and got in my Jeep... the Jeep refused to start!!! Ahhhhhhhh! So we hurried up and walked to school. Lucky it's only a few blocks, but it was 17 outside!!! BBbbbbrrrrrrrrr!!! Got her to school, came home and got my house mate up to help me go see what was wrong. The Jeep started right up.... Guess she was just complaining about how cold it was and I didn't let her warm up all the way before pulling out of the drive way. See why I say she's a she!!! Gees. I had a talk with her about not doing that to my little kid again. Lol

Not to mention it gave me a small heart attack with the fact that I'm doing little kid's Christmas shopping tonight!!! Yikes! Lol

Other then that things are going well today. On the walk to school I had a talk with Lilkin about being really behaved in school today. Especially because I didn't know what I'd have to do to get the Jeep working again and might not be able to get to the school easily if she had issues at lunch time. She agreed and said she'd be good with the nurse. So far so good. The nurse just called and told me Phoeny came down saying her tummy hurt, but her test reading was a good one, so she's just hungry. I let the nurse know she can have anything in her lunch box she wants, since it's less than an hour before she's going to be eating lunch anyway.

I have to wait until after 12pm to call the Animal Shelter I found the perfect kittens at, to see if my application went through alright. I have a back up plan if it doesn't. My best friend, Vampy is now working at a PetSmart and they got in the cutest, sweetest little grey tabby kitten that someone found as a stray near their house. She won't be able to come home before Christmas, but Santa can leave a note saying that she needed some special attention before she could come home. So, either way, Lilkin is getting her Christmas kitten!!! YEY!!!!

The other exciting news is that my guy is on his way home!!! I'll see him tonight when we go shopping!!! Oh Happy Happy Holiday Spirit today!!!  ;D
