I hate snow

This morning, I left at 5:30 a.m. (start at 7 a.m. with a 22 mile drive).  It took me 6 tries to back out of my garage up a slight hill and then to turn to go down the driveway to the street.

By 5:45, I was stuck on an angle, about 20 degrees,  when I slid sideways into a snowbank in my driveway trying to get to the street.  Pitch dark, snowing like you wouldn't believe, and I had to walk back up to my house in snow up to my knees & go inside.  We had to wait until the snow plows came through, then Steve had to use the tractor with the plow on it, plus the shovel and then give me a huge push to get out onto the street.  Plus he ended up falling down and thank goodness didn't really hurt himself.  I got to work at 10:45 a.m.

I hate snow.  Does anybody else?  Did you have any snow adventures today?  I long for Florida again!

We're up for a storm here in Minnesota.  Not looking forward to it.  Every time I look outside, I long for the inviting shores of St. Thomas.  *sigh*

Back when I lived in Michigan (before I retired), if I couldn't get out of my own driveway on the first try, I'd call and let them know I wasn't coming to work that day. But I did have plenty of annual leave on the books, and the drive was rather long.

When you're retired, a "Snow Day" is when you crank up the snow blower and dig your way out. That might be one of the reasons I moved to Southern Illinois. No Snow Days yet this season. Only had snow twice so far, and only less than 2 inches. We used to have heavier frosts than that when I was in Michigan.
Last Christmas was pretty here.

Not only do I hate snow, but I hated the minus 8 degrees yesterday, with wind chills (and hard blowing wind) of around 35 degrees below zero.

And what do we have to look forward to today and tomorrow?  More snow.  I wish I could just sit in my house by the wood burning stove, but the need for $ is the deciding factor why I leave the house (and go to work!).

When I lived in Colorado we had a few storms that dropped 3 ft. over night, but even those snows never stayed around for more that a week, then the 60-65* weather would roll around and melt all the piles. When I moved back here to Oklahoma, though (not really by choice), I found myself truly missing the beauty of the snow, and how it softens the rough edges of everyday life during the winter. Here, we have ice, and sleet, and freezing rain, that coat the wires and blow the transformers, break every tree in the state and turn the roads into impassable death traps... So, sorry to contradict the thread consensus, but give me snow any day!

That being said, however, I've been very seriously contemplating a move to Michigan recently, and the one source I have for information in the area also doesn't much care for the snow, at least when he has to plow the drive more than once in a day, or dig out the car again after digging it out the day before, ad nauseum, and it makes me realize that I've never actually dealt with winter in a place where the snow falls in November and doesn't leave until March or so... or where the temperature drops down into the 10's-20's and doesn't really get much higher for months. I've always loved winter, though, and think I could be happy there, with the right gear, a wood burning stove to supplement the central heat and the right person to sit by the fire with... or throw snowballs at!  LOL

Ummmm...I actually like snow...even when I have to go out and shovel.  (Well, I like it for about a month or so.  After that it can go away.)
What I don't like is the cold temperatures!  Brrrrr!!!
