we so welcome all the energies and talents yall bring to the experiment called sherwood.  we are encouraged by your generosity and your sense of taking an ownership in the building of the sherwood community.

george a. is thinking grand ideas for the future.  i am thinking smaller ones.  together, it's gonna be a heck of a ride these next two years.

as you know, sherwood faire for 2011 will see a great deal of growth.  a renowned MUD SHOW, The DED BOB Show, Full Contact Joust, several new performance groups, and our stellar cast and performers from last year.  we are also building two permanent toilets--one by the front gate and one by the pub.  we will still have porta-potties strategically located around the faire grounds, as well as in the camps.  we are building two shower units--each having six shower stalls.  planned to have hot water.  we are buying additional land and doubling the size of our parking lot with a single row able to handle rvs...though there will be no hookups out there.

we have engaged Nick Moser from The Shire in Austin and Justin Campbell to start us on a new authenticity kick in our construction and architecture.  we are setting high future standards to attempt to build future structures in sherwood with period appropriate methods of cob and wattle and daub--thus our july 24th volunteer day of constructing a jaol (jail) and the mud show stage out of straw, sand, clay and limbs.

and then, into the future...our plans grow exponentially:

2011 faire expanded to seven weekends and one friday in march
april 9th 2011--full contact joust tournament
joust camp sometime in 2011
december 2011--a medieval christmas --one weekend in mid december
faire in the spring of 2012
summer youth camp in summer of 2012
a fall music festival in fall of 2012

come hell or high water, we intend for sherwood experience to be year round.  it's where we want to raise our children.  it's where we want to build a sense of community.  it's where we want to live.

we thank you for embracing an inner desire and dream that lives in each of us.

love and peace,
