Burg Hattenheim is the ruin of a castle in Eltville, Germany.

Circumstantial evidence puts the construction of the castle at about 1118. References to a castle of the 'Nobles of Hattenheim' probably refer to the residential tower with some walls and a moat.

Lojuela Castle is a ruin in Granada, Spain.

Lojuelo is commonly considered a castle of the Muslim Era in Spain, circa 800-900 AD. But surveys of the ruin point to a Roman origin. The bases of the walls are stone masonry typical of Roman construction, while the upper walls are made of rammed earth and slaked lime. Roman pottery shards have also been found buried within the walls.

The Château de Roquessels is a ruined castle in the commune of Roquessels in France.

Roquessels Castle was built in the tenth century, that is to say, in the year 900 and some. The Lords of Margon, inhabitants of this 10th century castle, provided financial support to the cloister of Cassan. Located in the Languedoc region, it had a long association with the Duchy of Aquitaine.

Krivsoudov is a ruined castle in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.

Originally built in the 13th century, the castle eventually came into the ownership of the Bishop of Prague. Very little remains of the original castle. The older ruins were damaged further during World War II and a more modern rebuild sits atop most of the site.

Château de Javarzay is located in the Poitou-Charentes region of France.

The Javarzay castle was reconstructed between 1513 and 1515 by François de Rochechouart, governor of Genoa. Its one-time owners include the La Rochefoucauld family, the count of Pontchartrain (a minister of Louis XIV). All that's left of what was once the most imposing castle in Deux-Sèvres is the building bringing together the two towers and the chapel. The left wing and outer walls were destroyed long ago and the moat filled in.

Dromagh Castle is located in the southwest of Ireland.

The are around Dromagh was a seat of the O'Keeffe family from about 908 AD. The current castle was apparently built on the older stronghold about 1582.

Mortham Tower is located in England.

According to the Domesday book, Mortham Tower was a fortified tower residence that belonged to Earl Edwin in 1066 and by 1086 belonged to Count Alan of Brittany. The original tower was built onto and around it for the next centuries. The Pele tower dates from about 1485.

The Rivalta Castle is an impressive fortified complex that is located in Gazzola in the province of Piacenza, Italy.

The first written record of the castle is an act of purchase dating back to 1025. In 1048 the Emperor Henry II donated it to the monastery of San Savino of Piacenza. You can stay in the castle today as a hotel guest.

Cascioli Castle is located in the Tuscany region of Italy.

The castle was originally built in the 9th or 10th centuries. One of the earliest written records is of Count of Lottario, Cadolo, who in 1066 made it part of a dowry settlement. The castle is a private residence; not open to the public.

Montgomery Castle is a stone masonry castle looking over the town of Montgomery in Powys, mid Wales.

The original motte and bailey is now known as Hen Domen and was built at the order of Roger de Montgomery, earl of Shrewsbury sometime between 1071 and 1074. Henry III gave the castle to Hubert de Burgh in 1228.

Schalun Castle, also known locally as Wildschloss, is a castle ruin located in the municipality of Vaduz, Liechtenstein.

The first written record about the castle comes from 1237. In it, it was also first referred to by name, as "Schalun".

Vianden Castle is located in Vianden in the north of Luxembourg.

The castle was built on the site of an ancient Roman castrum. The basement appears to have been a Carolingian refuge. The first Count of Vianden, Bertolphe, appears in documents with his castle in 1090.

Poelwijk Castle is located in Gendt, The Netherlands.

Already in 1275 a Van Poelwijck family from Gendt was known. This tower is all that remains of Poelwijk Castle today. It dates back to about 1441. This tower was originally the gate tower of the castle. How the main castle looked is not known; but it vanished before 1702.

Ksiaz Castle is in Silesia, Poland in Wa?brzych.

The original fortification was destroyed in the year 1263 by Ottokar II of Bohemia. Bolko I, Duke of ?widnica and Jawor built a new castle between 1288 and 1292.

Longroiva Castle is located in the northern interior of Portugal.

Occupation of the site dates back to a pre-Roman Oppidum. In Roman times the existing fortified town in the same place was called Longóbriga But the medieval castle whose remains were preserved until today, was built in 1174-1176 by order of Grand Master of the Templars of Portugal D. Gualdim Pais.
