my furr babbies don't seem insulted when i call them pets nor are they treated badly all of them seem very comfortable to me

  When the pets are well treated, it's an ideal life to be a 'pet'.  No need to worry about money, food, housing.  Nothing is expected of you but to be a companion to the person who supports you.  You are spoiled, pampered and showered with expensive and unnecessary gifts.  
   Sounds more like like a trophy wife than a pet.

I really hope they throw the book at her. There are too many mothers that are in a hurry to have their little girls grow up too fast, Trust me I know the type I work for one of those moms she hasnt gone that far but some days I wouldnt put it past her.

One of my friends in grade school did kids pagents, but her parents would only enter her in one's called "natural" pagents.  You weren't allowed hair dressers, tanning, maicures, make up, dental appliances.  You were only allowed certain beauty products (hair spray and the like). They also did their walks in a uniform style outfit that was dictated by the pagent. The idea was that the kids  were judged for now naturally pretty/ cute they were NOT by what they were made out to be.  She did it until she was in high school, when playing sports had more appeal than spending her weekend at parents.  She was happy and well ajusted.  Those pagents, I 'could' agree with, but only if the kid is honestly haveing fun.
