It sounds like a scam to me

This is a little off topic-
I got a message on my you tube channel that said:

Seeking Scarborough Renaissance Fans For New Travel Channel Series
HI,
I hope this message finds you well! I came across your video during my search for a new TV series that I'm working on, and I had to contact you immediately.
My name's Kiran Malhorta, and I'm a producer for the new Travel Channel show about fan culture. I'm currently seeking die-hard Scarborough Renaissance fans to feature on our show. If this is something that interests you, I would love to hear more about your story: why you love the Scarborough Renaissance, how you celebrate/tailgate, any interesting traditions you have. Etc.
I was also wondering if you'd be willing to post our casting notice on your blog and Facebook page. Please find it attached to this email. We'd like to feature several fans on our shoe, and I'd be super grateful for your help spreading the word to the Sorborough Renaissance community. And if you know firsthand of any fans who might be interested, I'd love to speak with them as well.
Thanks so much for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon!
Best,
Kiran Malhotra

I don't know what to make of this. It sounds like a scam to me but maybe not. The user that sent me this was superfancasting
I know some of you work for Scarborough and maybe want to look in to this.

Nothing there on the Youtube Channel.  Why don't you try finding this person at the Travel Channel and see if anyone there by that name is employed there (remember, though that the name appears to be misspelled here, which should be spelled as Kiran MalhoTRa).  That way, you're not responding back through that direct method and getting spammed later on.

I want to say that I saw someone mention something like this on one of the scarby facebook pages as well...  could be a scam that hit you both... but it's definitely worth looking into with skepticism!

Try talking to Scarborough Management. Danielle frequents this forum. If the Travel Channel was really filming at Scarborough they would have to get permission at the very least.

Actually, Coy mentioned something of this, and had a link on his Facebook page.

I got the message also and had a short back and forth email conversation with them. It's not a spam scam and they aren't asking for money (at least they didn't ask me).  They want people to interview as being hardcore fan types. Rennies are just one group they are interviewing.
I won't be there the weekend they will be so I am out of the picture.

I suppose you could contact them about this.  At the very least they would want to know who is using their name.
If this is legit- I would love to see a show about rennies....as long as it doesn't portray us in a negative light.  If they are looking to make another 'reality' show, I'm afraid they might decide the negative sells better than showing us in a positive way.

Actually, I've already sent an e-mail inquiry to Sharp Entertainment asking if this is legit and from them.

I'll post here when/if I hear back from them.

I won't guarantee that this isn't a scam, but a few Google searches and a search on LinkedIn brought consistent enough results that I personally wouldn't be worried. If it was a scam, there is usually someone out there that has posted about it. This does not seem to be the case here.

In my experience scammers don't typically create a LinkedIn profile, and if they do, they don't have a picture or as much background information as hers does. She appears to be a field producer for TLC including credits on "Extreme Couponing".

I would say follow up with her, and see where it goes. As long as she isn't asking for any money you should be safe. (Just don't go meet anyone alone)

I agree with RowenD that I hope this brings *Positive* attention to Rennies. I'm excited to see the results of this.

If this is the same thing that is being talked about on the Facebook group, it seems legit to me.  I even saw a film crew interviewing people at the Maypole last Sunday

Hello All - thank you for your concern and response.

This is in fact legitimate, however, the Scarborough Administration would prefer that you do not post the casting notice anywhere (we are in the final scheduling of this at this point). However, if you would like to respond to them with your answers, please feel free.

Thank you for your concern.
