Fellow Folk

Seeing as though I did the job last year, I now rightfully claim the appointment of the Official Weekend Updater for the 2009 faire season. Granted to me by the lovely webmistress Julianne, I will keep any and all advised as to the weekend theme, weather, source of cheap tickets, as well as other news to make your faire going less stressful and keep you focused on the important stuff like ale comsumption and wench watching.

Respectfully,

Marcos Charron - McCarron

Greetings, All!

With just 50 days til the gates part once again...and the excitement building...I ask your collective advice.
I am planning a weekend trip out to your fine festival this season from VA and am looking for the "what's not to miss" at AZRF.
Where do all the cool kids play? (ie..what's the best pub to hang out in?    )  How's the joust?  Any recommended shows?
Any and all input is much welcomed and appreciated.

I think she meant in her questions regarding all things at Faire.

pixie I have the answer to all your questions:  just hang out with us r/fers. ;)

we are the cool kids and wherever we are playing is the place to be.

Julianne

So sorry, I have been playing in the band for the past few nights and I am not up to speed.

Pixie, what Julianne said!

Let us know when you are in town, we will give you a proper welcome.

Thanks guys!

I've got the place to stay all arranged, so that's not a problem.  And I'm looking to be there around the third weekend in February.
I'll post again closer to that time when I've got better plans made.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all and getting (what will be for me) an off-season faire fix!

By the way, keep in mind too that RenDezvous 08 will be held at MDRF, so if any of you can make it out this way over Labor Day weekend, we'd love to have you!

Thanks, Julianne!  Dates are set for Feb 28th & March 1, both days.  Any hints on where's best to find you guys hangin' out?

I personally can't be there on Saturday but I'll be sure to see you on that Sunday.

A lot of the R/Fers here have season passes which means you'll see them in line at the "will call" booth collecting their days passes into the faire.

After that...they'll be headed to the royal court to pay their respect and then coffee and booze in some such short order shortly arriving at said booths immediately after the aforementioned if not before.

Then most of the r/f ers head up to the Dancing Pig Pub which is at the other end of the Faire right by the Jousing Arena...to listen to Owain Phyfe.  That is a bit of a long journey frought with vendors and temptations along the way so there is no real telling at what time one may reach the desitination of said Pub....all depends on thirst and distracting pubs along the way.

No worries pixie...we shall make sure that we meet and see you before cannon.
:)

to my AZRF compadres:
C'mon y'all!  Help the sister out and let her know that we will receive her in true AZRF style and our gentlemen and ladies will be pleased to meet and escort her thoughout her days visit....ahem...time to shine....hello!!!

Lord Figaro

Can't wait to greet you at our new home fest ~pixie~. The wife and I just moved here, so we're going to be learning all the cool things this year too.

Oh Official Weekend Updater for the 2009 faire season (and any others, I would love some feedback)...Northern California has decided to invade this year :)  For all that will be attending, this will be our first year at your wonderful Arizona faire

Weekend you would recommend? In other words, which weekend do YOU all think is the most fun for participants?
Best Ale Stand to hold court?
and please, which is the closest lodgings to the faire site?

Comte de Gilbert

My personal recomendation is presidents day weekend, you get the extra day, plus we normally get alot of visiters that weekend

First, welcome and well met!

Next, the information. As for the best weekend, it has to be President's Day Weekend, Feb 14-16. It gives you three days of our wonderful faire, as well as a chance to attend our local meet and greet
at Churchills Pub in Chandler, Friday the 13th of Feb. As for the best Ale stand to hold court?, all are wonderful, but the cool kids prefer to hang out at The Dancing Pig Pub, that is located just outside
the jousting arena. Owain Phyfe performs there as well as Jamila Lotus, the bellydancing troupe.

As for the question of lodging, there are many hotels close to the faire site, I would suggest Expedia or Kayak.com and enter the city of Apache Junction to find something that fits your needs and
purse. If you need more help, you can PM me here, or email to mcaronone@gmail.com and I can help you more.

Hope to see you soon!

The Dancing Pig it is, then!  Thank you!  I'm sooo looking forward to it!  I have seen Owain Phyfe play at MDRF, and NiedFyre plays at VARF, so it will be nice to see familiar faces along with meeting all of you. I'll have MDRF & VARF pins on, so I won't be too hard to spot, either.

Speaking of entertainment -  If this is the first time the Medieaval Baebes are playing at AZRF, by ALL means, do NOT miss them!  I've seen them at MDRF and they are awesome.

Thanks again!
