Site report (sorta)- Went out to check on the forge yesterday, and also took a quick run around the faire site to see what else is changed. Some booths got spruced up a bit, and on the back wall near the falconer's stage a new food booth and beer garden are being built. Other'n that, not sure what all changes will be seen this year. I have to head back out next week to fight the good fight against the hordes of poison ivy, and start clean-up and prep for this season. If anyone has booths out there they want me to check on (Holly, your's looked like it was in good shape), lemme know :)

Ooooh... that sounds like something really sweet!  I can't remember all the places we saw during our first visit ever last year, but this year we are going to take our time and really explore.  First goodies will be the sausage kolaches for both of us, frozen lemonade for the renlet and frozen sangria for me!  Mmmmm... I can almost taste them now... (drool)

I'm so excited.  I haven't checked out anything about the faire because I just want everything to be a surprise for my first excursion.  I've been told that TRF is a lot bigger than Scarborough.

Rani, stop teasing me with talk about sangria! :)
I aim to misbehave

Oh, you have to have one when you get there!!!  It's... sublime!  It's basically a sangria snowcone... and it's Y.U.M.!!!

Grumble! They still don't have the Scotch on a stick booth!
LOL.
My fave place to eat is the German section! Reuben and burgers are the best!
Miss the Taverna Di Vino though. That was near the Falconry stage several years ago. Yummy food and wine by the bottle! Ah Memories.
OK back to the countdown!!! Sorry for the digression.

TRF is between 2 and 3 times the size of Scarborough. It's the largest faire in the US.

I have a friend that says TRF is like Scarby on steroids lol.  It is a large faire and there is a lot to see.  :)

Both have their merits. If you could get TRF to notch back on the modernity, cheap trash, and commercialism to the level Scarby is at and put more focus on artisan-made crafts rather than Medieval Wal-Mart junk, you'd have the perfect faire. Scarby has a nicer feel to it, more soul in some ways and a lot less shabby and worn down in places, but is far smaller, lacks the fun and comeraderie of the many camps in Patrons such as those represented here, and is less developed in many ways. All in all they balance out, with strengths and weaknesses in different areas.

I really enjoy interacting with the cast in the lanes at Scarby, but it seems the TRF cast doesn't have as much time for that because there are just so many people there and all of the cast have places they have to be and bits they have scheduled all during the day, so there is less roaming and playing with the guests.  TRF has far more ground to cover, however, and so very much to see and do that one weekend isn't anywhere near enough, and if it weren't so very far we would love to come down for several weekends each season!  We love the camping, also, and wish Scarby had something similar, as well.  They are both wonderful, and we look forward to both of them all year long!

While it is true that TRF is a bit more worn around the edges, don't forget that Scarby is also physically much, much younger.
