Oh, I'm fully aware of the dangers of runoff. I'm sure that by the time I get my own tent, I'm going to have someone build me something to put it on. Erik will not be with me most weekends, and by the time it gets cold, I may be sleeping in that big bad tent alone. I have a Mr. Heater, but will be investing in two more, or the bigger Mr. Heater with the blower on it. Here's hoping :D

On one hand the in-laws live in Magnolia so I never HAVE to camp. The other is that eventually I have to leave the area to go there.

If I had the money and the space I'd own a camper of some kind. Hell, could probably own one in a few years, but have zero place to keep it at our current house, a downside to townhouses.

and yes, The Expendables is everything you thought it would be.
On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

I remember getting a call, last year, from a certain woman, asking me to check radar for her, opening weekend...

Then she calls back.... all i could hear was Blue screaming at the top of her lungs that the only thing that was keeping her tent from blowing away was that her & Ace were inside of it!  :D  THAT was an epic storm.

Last years opening weekend was for sure one to remember...massive storms that Friday then cleared up Friday night..beautiful Saturday then as a lot of people were packing out Sunday morning another storm decided to make its arrival..and not only did we get soaked while packing out my family van decided then was a good time to have a dead battery as well!! I'm hoping for a much better start to this season.

We have two heaters with fans in them and they work great at circulating the warm air.  I would definitely get one with a blower on it.  Since we have two what we do is prep them both before we go to sleep.  We only turn one on when we go to bed then when it runs out in the middle of the night and we wake up cold the other one is ready to go and all we have to do is start it.  We have two like this http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-5053A751-Perfectemp-Instastart-Technology/dp/B0009PURYU and one will heat up our large cabin style tent nicely.

am I a bad man for TOTALLY misinterpreting the meaning of "Mr. Heater" when I read it the first time, made worse when she referred to getting multiples and a blower?

Sounds like wishful thinking to me.

Yeah... you did.

And Fraser, the storm wouldn't have been quite so bad if there were other damn TENTS in the campground!!! It was almost completely empty, leaving the wind to whip across the joint like it was on crack! And yeah, I was screaming... I was expecting to get uprooted like frackin Dorothy!!! There we were, me and Ace, bracing up against the tent poles, sopping up tiny leaks, while the whole of our camp hid at Bonny's house LOL! We held down the fort, and Rapier was nice enough to drive over to bring a donut or three.

I had totally forgotten about bringing you treats for staking out the clan camp for everyone.

I am soooo jealous!! I want one.  We bought a new tent a couple of years ago so my hubby won't let me get a new one.
