LOL  Uhhhh... burning?!?    Oh, please... I've tasted the some of the meat you have introduced to flames before (wait, why does that just not sound right?)... and there was absolutely nothing BURNT about it!  You are an extremely proficient cook!

What is it about men, holidays and searing animal flesh that is so appealing?  I mean, most men will avoid cooking like they think it might render them, well, lets just say... less manly ( )... but put a pair of tongs and a can of lighter fluid in their hands and they'll strap on an apron in a heartbeat!  Hell, it might even say "Kiss The Cook"!!!    


Of course, I've always been pretty good at following written instructions.    


BBQ sounds good, though... and that's likely what we'll be doing, as well...along with a little fishing, swimming and tubing, and maybe even a bit of stargazing...

I'm trying to think if I have any plans or not.... Since I have to work on Monday, there's really no 3 day weekend for me. Lame.

Totally not fair!  It's a national holiday... everyone should have the day off!  Although that would really put a cramp in lots of people's plans, I suppose, when they couldn't stop for gas, or ice... or another can of lighter fluid.

Well, it's actually a weather make-up day for the district I work in. I am not too bummed out about it because I start my vacation at the end of that week anyway.

Ahhh... we start this Friday, and the only reason Scally is getting out of school on the regularly scheduled day is because, instead of lengthening the year by almost two weeks because of all the snow days we had, they decided to lengthen the SCHOOL DAY by 40 minutes per day for several weeks, instead...  


I'm sure that by the end of the second week I'll be ready for school to start again, but for that first 2 weeks it will be so nice to just not wake up to an alarm!!!

That's kinda cool that her district is doing that, though. I mean, yeah it will be a pain in the neck for some people to extend their day but the result in the long run is so worth it.

I like not waking up to an alarm, but since my husband wakes up at the same time I do, and he doesn't get a vacation like I have, he still wakes up at the same time. I've tried to sleep past that, and I can never do it-it is so hard for me to fall back asleep. I have no problem napping during the summer days, though! lol

Well, since I sleep alone at the moment I don't have that problem... but when I do have a bed partner I can't usually get back to sleep after they're gone, either.  It's just not as... comfortable, for some reason, I guess.

It gives me time to watch the morning news, though! lol...

Ahhh... I haven't really had the tv on much for the last few months.  I get most of my news online, and just use the broadcast weather advisories when there are storms.  I got rid of the cable not long ago, and now the thing is hardly ever on...


Of course, I just come here before I do much of anything else in the morning...well, besides those things we all do right after we roll out of bed, anyway.

I'm tired of missing so much of the really cool stuff, and being able to hang out with so many of the people I care so much about.  Once a year just isn't enough.
