Hakoinen Castle is a ruined fortification on a hill in Janakkala, Finland.

Today very little remains of the castle. Equally little is known about its origins. One postulation is that it was built by the Swedes as their original stronghold in the medieval Häme area.

Kirtling Tower is a medieval castle and Tudor country house in Cambridgeshire, England.

The first documentary records for Kirtling Tower date from 1219, and the 13th century Kirtling Castle was described as having a moat, a ditch and a palisade. Only the gate house, some outer wall foundations and a little more than half of the moat remains of the original castle.

But records show that there was some type of fortification here since the earliest Celtic era.
