I just wanted to let you guys know about an AWESOME find I made yesterday.
I went to Ikea with my mom- just to putz around and found this

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20104718

it is an awesome solid birch wood table that is perfect for sewing and leather working.
I shouldn't have spent the money but I got myself one yesterday.
its normally $180- they were on sale my ikea (sunrise florida) for $70 so totally worth it
If you have an Ikea near you its very much worth going to take a look.
Its got 6 nice deep drawers- 3 on each side.

Awesome score! How tall is it? I am 5 10 so I guess I will run down to IKEA and check it out!!
Thanks for the input!

It's only 30" high but you could put the legs into coffee cans full of sand, place them on bricks or on bed risers to bring up the height for you.

I found that very table AFTER I purchased a $99 cutting table. *sighpout*

You haven't had enough coffee unless you can thread a sewing machine while it's running.

I am also 5'10" and tried it out sitting on my chair and had no problem
and Artemisia is right you can always hike it up.

I wish I had gotten wheels to go with the table (they dont come with it) only because I have freaking carpet in my whole apt so its a little hard to move it around due to its heft

Nice looking table. You can get wheels or casters at a hardware store. or get those "moving men" disc Just slide under the leg s and you can slide the desk around.

Ya know, it's a little ridiculous when shipping costs almost twice what the item costs...

I went the cheap route:

built a cutting table out of a full piece of plywood, galvanized metal legs- batting n canvas for the top (I drew 1 inch lines across the entire top face to you can pin to it if you need to - altho most of the time my 3 piece rotary cutting mats live there so it is a lil redundant)

my sewing table is a piece of countertop (someone ordered it and then didn't want it- got it way cheap from the hardware store) on top of two small file cabinets...its nearly the perfect  height for me and since it was so cheap I live with it!  the small backsplash keeps the light, machines misc. gunk from falling off the back side

I love that table, but I wouldn't have been able to afford that- not to mention the shipping!

act2redux, I plan on using a similar design to make my new cutting table. Can't use a full piece of plywood because I don't have the room. *jealous*

Found a blog where this table is in use. She also uses other great Ikea products.
