I just spent yesterday and today making a new corset for my daughter.  Same "rat grey" outer, and same maroon inner, but she wanted it to be less plain.  I sewed verticle ribbon (alternating 2 then 1) on the outer piece, and then assembled the outer with the cord layer.  Made the pockets for the boning (I used nylon ties) and for the busk (I used a web belt).  Also had 6 pockets on each side of the back.  Still have to make the eyelets, the straps, and possibly a bit of decoration along the top and bottom edges.

It went fast.

I am making a shirt, sleevless doublet, and slops for a friend (already have his hat!), and will possibly make garb for his wife and daughter for the MN renfest opening day.

Cool!

Well I'm not really sure what I'm doing now.  With Hubby being deployed in the fall (meaning I'm not sure how often I'll even make it to faire this year and when I do go I'll have to have garb I can get myself into and be able to drive in) and the slight lack of fabric fund-age, I really have to rethink the the whole garb sewing priority list.  Maybe I'll just put some effort into making the garb I have, a little easier to put on by myself.  Maybe I'll just make a few easy to wear working class pieces to mix and match.  AHHHHH  I don't know.

Approaching the end of a new garb project this year- split skirt, bodice- both with veleteen guards, forpart with pearls sloshed all over it.  Still have to make the paned sleeves and arrafet - likely as not will make 2 new chemises and coifs as well....got a "raise" in social standing- wouldn't do to show up in old crummy looking chemises!

going to  Costume College in Aug- gotta get going on a Victorian with Steampunk leanings after that - from the underwear out!
still looking for a piece of "just the right" fabric to go with a couple of other burgundy for some lacey or gauzy finishing touches....had one all lined out- but by the time I had the $$ stashed it had dissappeared!

I am working on a Henrician gown for the first time in 16 years....though its actually based on a french portrait by Clouet.
I hope to have it finished by RenDevous April 24.

Having just crossed my first item off the list as completed, wondering now...
LADIES!  I know there are others who have accomplished some things on their
lists.  Auntie Lou - did I see the linen shirt at the castle last month??
We are all of us in the gutters, but some of us are lookin at the stars

Wow. I just got an order (my first order! Someone is paying me to sew! Exciting!) for three tunics, three supertunics, three pairs of breeches and a medieval kirtle.

I'm going to be a busy little bee.

Congratulations, Chris!!  Keep us posted as you make everything!

Imestra, I have done a little bit: I've finished construction on the corded corset (just need to bind it and put in the eyelets), had a catastrophic start on Milord's Gimli tunic and put it away in frustration (but will be getting it out again this week), and I've started a new kirtle mockup (not an item on the list, but oh, well!).

Aunty Lou

Let's see...  No, sister Imestra, I merely pressed the older chemise for a fresh look.  Finished the mitts with blackwork to wear in the sun, and new bloomers...   Still looking for the right weight of linen/cotton to make a new chemise.  Want to make a doublet style gown with a small ruff collar.  Found a self-portrait by Sofonisba Anguisolla(SIC?) of her and her sisters playing chess.  They all wear square-necked gowns, with chemise-shirts with blackworked collars and plackets and cuffs, with small ruff edgings.  I'm thinking November at the Castle.  Covered.  Good.

Oooh, this one?

You should post this in the Portrait Garb thread!

Almost finished a couple things on my list. My new shirt is done, except for the bottom edge needs to be finished. Amara has a new, reversable bodice all finished off, except for maybe some simple trim, and a new skirt, which has been worn, but not hemmed. Also finished off her cloak.
After finishing hems, guess its time to hit the thrift store to get a couple dress shirts, and cut them to peices to try to get myself a doublet pattern. either that, or at least embelish my jerkin.

Well, looks like I have a specific project for this year.  My 20th High school reunion is in Sept...right around the time of the St. Louis Pirate festival...and our mascot was...yep...PIRATES!!!!  Sooooo, I'm going to make a pirate ensemble to wear to the Friday night happy hour (pre-reunion) in my school colors!!!  He he he, my classmates will get to see me for the first time in 10-20 year ren-geeked out in the mundane world!!!  Snicker.  Can't wait...I'll probably feel more comfortable in THAT than the dress at the "formal event" the next night!  :D  :D
I'm not fat, it's just that a skinny body couldn't hold ALL THIS PERSONALITY! ;)

Well I just figured out what I have to do before we can even consider going to faire....

1.) Dresses for my 2 daughters - I will keep them simple and they will consist of a chemise and some sort of over dress.  Fabric for the over-dresses already purchased and prewashed.
2.) One or two skirts for myself - one in black and one in another color.  Black fabric already purchased, but not yet washed.
3.) A full-length chemise for myself - need to purchase fabric for this and will most likely do so in the next couple of days.
4.) A pair of pants for my hubby - once he makes up his mind what color he wants I can buy the fabric and get started on these.

The kicker?   Faire is on June 5th!  I guess my life will consist of doing nothing but sewing for the next month.  *sigh*  See you in a month! LOL

LadyShadow

April is almost over  ;D  And nothing on my sewing list is getting accomplished.  :'( Yet, more things keep getting added to it.   :-\  I think I might have to hide it for some time until I can get some time to get to it.  I never mind adding to the list, but thats when I'm marking things off the list.  Who has a device to freeze time, just long enough to get a project or two done, thats all I need  ;D ::)
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Lady Shadow, ain't that the truth!

I've finished the kirtle bodice mockup; just need to baste on the lacing strips and do a test-fit. I had to make a second set of lacing strips, so now I have two with the machine-done eyelets: one that's something like 20" long for front/back lacing (no, I'm not quite that tall! LOL; I just cut strips to practice the eyelet function0, and one set that's about 10" long (for side/side back lacing). I can't do the fitting until I get a new seam ripper (Milord broke mine).

Taking a break at the moment to work on a little cross stitch.

Butch

I completed my buddy's hat, shirt, and trousers.  Still have to make his jerkin.  Will then start on either his wife's or daughter's garb.

Going along nicely!
