Question about Essential Oils

We have 4 large dogs, so I keep jar candles on candle warmers to keep the house smelling nice in the winter when we can't open the windows and bathe the dogs as regularly.

After a while, the scent wears off and I have to buy new candles.  This starts getting expensive.  There's nothing wrong with the wax, it just doesn't smell.  Would it work if I purchased some essential oil and then added a few drops to the melted wax?  If so, is there a special kind of oil I should look for?

Thanks for your help.  I appreciate your comments.

I've made candles with used wax (unscented) and added essential oils to them while the wax was liquid. I find just a few drops works well for a large candle.
I'm not sure if it matters what type of oil.

Thank you.  We have some shops downtown that have candles and oils, so I'll stop in there.

I would stay away from the citrus essential oil though because they have a very low flash point and will burn off faster.  The exception to that is Lemongrass.
