So admittedly I have been stuck on the show LOST and just got done watching the finale and I HAVE to ask what other people thought.

Personally, I was glued till the very end then I blinked and went "Wait a minute!" It sucked. The episode itself was great but the end seemed like such a cop out and they never explained anything, they just delivered a pleasing ending. Yet so far everyone can't stop talking about how great it was and I just keep looking for all my answers. Maybe its cause I am a running on no sleep but did anyone else feel let down?

I never saw the show once until last night and it was great! I had no idea this was such a good show.

Maybe they wanted the ending to be left to interpretation? Was the name of the island Atlantis?

It reminds me of the story by Ambrose Bierce, Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, with a few major differences. The movie, Jacob's Ladder was similar as well.

Unfortunately I missed it.

Can someone give me a condensed run-down?

I love that story! The episode itself was great and kept you hooked, I was just uspet that it didnt "answer" like anything.

Okay so here's the best recap I can do, SPOILERS

All right. So Desi gets picked up by Rose and Bernard  then "John" ( who is really the man in black/smoke monster) shows up and takes Desi off to the glowing hole thing because he wants to sink the island. On the way they run into Jack's group and they follow them. They lower Desi on a rope into the hole and he moves this big rock in a pool of water and the island starts shaking and "John" is all happy then when he gets hit and bleeds Jack realizes that "John" isn't immortal anymore and they take off to kill each other. When fighting on the cliffs by the sea Jack gets stabbed badly in the side by "John" who is shot by Kate and he dies. Jack and Hurley take off back to the glowing hole that is now not glowing and Kate and Sawyer go to find Miles, Richard (who can now age) and the pilot who Miles and Richard found alive in the ocean. They're trying t get the plane to go off the island and Claire doesn't want to go cause she knows she's all crazy and couldn't be a good mom, Kate convinces her and they run to the plane that is in mid take off, and manage to get in the plane. Meanwhile Jack makes Hurley the new protector of the island and he goes in the hole and finds Desi still alive and ties him to the safety rope, Jack puts the rock back in the hole and Hurley and Ben pull Desi up to safety and run for it. Jack lays on the floor and dies.
In the sideways world everyone encounters each other somehow and end up having these flashbacks to the island and remember everything and make out and then go to the church where Jacks dad was going to be buried and everyone is running around weirdly happy (esp. Kate, she's really creepy) inside the church (Ben who stays outside). He opens his dad's coffin, its empty, his dad is behind him and tells him that everyone dies then they all go sit in the church and his dad walks out the door and there is a bright light then it goes to Jack dying on the island.

Thank you. Ugh....not the kind of ending we would have liked to see.

That goes with all the other shows that have had endings that are badly written.

:P

I watched part of the first season, it seamed to me they had writers that didn't know what had happened in previous seasons and just made up stuff. Didn't like it at all.
