Does anyone know of a Faire, anywhere!, that will be going on in early February? We live in DFW and quite honestly have no desire to be in-town when the rest of the country arrives in Arlington. Not being big football fans, all we can think of is...get the heck of out Dodge for the weekend! (And no, our house is not for rent...)

Already checked:
Arizona - doesn't start till 2/12
Florida - 6th looks like an off-weekend between Key Biscayne & Deerfield Beach
Sherwood - doesn't start till 2/19

Are there any other southern faires that run early in February that we can check out? I am going out on a limb and thinking there's not much in the northern part of the country going on due to weather!

I soooo wish we could do the same thing.  DH works up by that area & I'm praying they will offer a work from home option that week.

Faires.com lists one in Venice, Italy, Yuma AZ & Hoggstowne in Florida.  Hopefully these will help.

Italy?! /perk  :o

Maybe we could get a group package!

Unfortunately I'm a teacher so my vacation time is set for me.  I was hoping schools might shut down that week but no dice.

Hubby says I need to be optimistic but I really think they have no clue what's going to happen & its going to be horrid between Division & 30.  Possibly even 20 & 30.

We don't live close to Arlington (fortunately) but getting out of town for the weekend sounds like a great idea. Keeping an eye on this thread if anyone comes up with anything.  :)

I had plan on batting down the hatches and not leaving the house that week.  However getting out of town for a faire sounds like a better idea.

Hoggetowne in Gainesville, FL is a definite possibility. 15 hour drive from DFW. I will confirm how do-able I think that is after we make a drive to MN in a few weeks!

Two Rivers in Yuma AZ hasn't posted 2011 dates yet :(

Alas, Italy looks like it was a 2010 affair and not yet identified if it will happen in 2011. Darn, I had high hopes there!

Now expanding my search to Scottish/Irish/Celtic Festivals. Maybe various Cons that may be happening, LOL! Maybe we could talk Rengypsy into having something @ Sherwood that weekend! I would gladly drag down various and sundry implements of home repair torture to be SOMEWHERE ELSE during the local mayhem. :)

I LOVE it! I would gladly go to a non superbowl anything! Super faire!

That definitely sounds like a plan to me.

The one in Venice I don't think is really a faire, more likely than not its Carnevale.
about 4 times out of 5 Venice floods for Carnevale and its freaking freezing.

Hoggstown here in Fl is supposed to be a cool little faire.

Ushicon is in Round Rock, TX (north Austin) Feb 4-6.
It is an 18+ Anime convention.

Most of last year's SciFi cons from February are in March next year.

Unfortunately, the Four Winds Faire just south of Tyler, TX probably won't start until the last weekend of February or 1st weekend of March.

I have a cousin who lives in Houston.  When they had the last superbowl there, she just became a homebody that weekend too.

Oh no. That date snuck up on me. I looked at the upcoming faires link and nothing was listed.
Looks like I'll be staying in and sewing for Sherwood that weekend.

Yes, Hoggetown & Two Rivers are the only 2 Faires I can find.

Haven't found a Con that tickles my fancy yet.

I think I will try to hibernate while the cities are taken over.

Two Rivers is a fun little faire, not that I'm at all biased since it's the faire that my troupe performs at *grin*. The dates are the 4th to 6th of February and our weather should be lovely!
