Thousands of litres of whisky flushed down drain in Dumbarton

The mistake happened at a Chivas Brothers bottling plant


Thousands of litres of whisky have been flushed down the drain by accident at a bottling plant in Dumbarton.
It is understood the mix-up happened at Chivas Brothers during the night shift on Tuesday while equipment was being cleaned.
Instead of draining away waste water, the workers on duty somehow flushed out thousands of litres of bulk whisky. The smell was so strong that sewage workers reported it.
Chivas Brothers - which employs 600 workers at the plant and produces the world's second biggest-selling brand, Ballantine's - said it was investigating an accidental release of spirit.
A statement said: "We are currently investigating an accidental loss on the 26th of February at our Dumbarton site, where some spirit was released to the local water treatment plant.
"There has been no release of spirit to the River Leven or any other local water course. We have informed Scottish Water and all other relevant authorities."

'Adverse impact'

A Scottish Water spokesman said: "Staff at our waste water treatment works were already aware of a problem and were working to identify the source when contacted by Chivas Brothers.
"Our trade effluent team have now visited the company to get an oversight into its failure investigation so that we can ensure all possible precautions are being taken to prevent a repeat.
"Discharging large volumes of alcohol into the sewer network can have an adverse impact on waste water treatment processes, particularly during dry, cold weather.
"We are continuing to closely monitor our Dumbarton waste water treatment works to ensure treatment has not been compromised."

  Stuff like this makes my so angry I could spit!  We had 2 fund raisers for my step son (cancer 3 times) and raised about 3K total, after months of work, and he is still20K in debt for ongoing screening.  It's hard enough to reach out to the public for help when a loved one is sick... then
   this....piece of excrement.. raises tens of thousands on FB to feed a heroin habit!  She even scammed her own Grandmother into selling her home to give her money!

A handful of rich Manhattan mothers are hiring disabled people to pose as family members so their children can jump to the front of the lines at Disney World, The New York Post reports today.

The paper points its finger at Dream Tours, a company that helps organize vacations for people with special needs.

The company —  and clients who are willing to pay —  allegedly take advantage of a Disney rule that allows guests  who need a wheelchair or motorized scooter to bring up to six guests to a "more convenient entrance," the Post's Tara Palmeri reports.

The company reportedly provides a disabled "escort," who accompanies the family around the park and to the front of the line at busy rides.

According to The Post:

"You can't go to Disney without a tour concierge,'' [one mom] sniffed. "This is how the 1 percent does Disney."

The woman said she hired a Dream Tours guide to escort her, her husband and their 1-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter through the park in a motorized scooter with a "handicapped" sign on it. The group was sent straight to an auxiliary entrance at the front of each attraction.

The "black-market" guides run $130 for an hour, and $1,040 for an eight-hour day, The Post reports.

This does raise the question:
   What do you do to the disabled folks making money off this scheme?  I think the IRS would love to talk to them.   
    I think Disney will be paying more attention to the 'frequent flyers'-Those same disabled folks visiting the parks more than once per year. I figure Dream Tours is going to have to explain themselves too. 
   After all they're cutting into tDisney profits by undermining the lucrative 'fast pass' program..
   This should be interesting.

Senior prostitution ring: Senior 'sex workers' ring at senior housing complex


A senior prostitution ring run by a 75-year-old, which included elderly residents as "sex workers", wasn't limited to just sex but also included cocaine. None of the senior prostitutes were arrested; however, the 75-year-old suspected of having run the prostitution ring has been charged with "maintaining a nuisance" and with possession of drug paraphernalia, reported 4 New York on May
The apartments which provided the safe haven for the senior prostitution ring are a New Jersey senior citizen housing complex.
"A 75-year-old resident of a New Jersey senior citizen housing complex is suspected of running a prostitution ring that employed some elderly residents as sex workers."
In addition to 75-year-old James Parham, 65-year-old Cheryl Chaney has been accused of allowing senior residents and their visitors to use crack in their apartments. Both have been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a nuisance. In addition, Cheryl Chaney is charged with possession of crack cocaine.
According to Englewood Police Chief Arthur O'Keefe, "Parham ran the prostitution ring through his apartments, and employed a mix of young women and older residents."
While some senior citizens welcomed the opportunity to supplement their income by doing extra work, other senior citizens at the New Jersey senior citizen complex felt rather uncomfortable with a few of their elderly neighbors working as "sex workers."
Some of the sex and drug use going on in the senior apartment complex occurred in common areas of the complex and some seniors not involved in the "business" were afraid to go into certain apartment complex areas because they were afraid for their lives.
As one of the senior residents of the New Jersey senior citizen housing complex phrased it, there was "a lot of nonsense going on."

This bothers me like nothing else has for a long time.  Being a "StudMuffin" rider, I can not imagine anyone taking advantage of their disability like this.   I hope Disney hangs them from the yardarm and displays the bodies to serve as a deterent.
Course, I didn't like being 'forced' to cut the line at immigration but they would't allow me to wait my turn.  I do admit ,I like to use preboarding on an aircraft because it speeds up boarding for all in the long run.  Otherwsie I would much prefer to wait my turn.  After all, I bring a place to sit..
