I used to stay at the Super 8 in Navasota.  Clean and not too far from TRF.

Ye Olde Best Western in The Woodlands. (That *IS* my version of camping... :) )

There is a brand new Hampton Inn and a new La Quinta in Tomball which is south of TRF.

Think there will be room at these inns on the second or third weekends, or should I see about reservations?

It's always a good idea to secure reservations, no matter where you're going!  You might even be able to get some sort of Faire discount if you ask...

Problem is... the ones I looked at require a 30 day cancellation for Renaissance time. I'm just going to have to play it by ear and see what happens.... if a week comes open that i can make it..and there's a room somewhere...I'll be there.

There are select hotels by The Woodlands/Shenadoah that are doing a special for TRF.  They are going to be shuttling back and forth this year.
It is about an hour away but if you dont  have to drive or deal with parking might be worth it.

Here is a link to their site, but I do not know if all the hotels are participating or just a few.

I hated staying at the Woodlands. Too far from faire for me. Lots of traffic too- and that was 4 years ago or more.

Traffic will be a problem especially now that 1488 is under contruction - The Woodlands is not the best place to stay...too far away from faire to begin with. Stay in Magnolia or Tomball.  There are 3 hotels in Magnolia now. But if you must - an hour away are hotels in Conroe, The Woodlands, Navasota and Waller/290 area I believe.

My group (which may end up just being myself and husband) will be staying at the Comfort Suites in Tomball for closing weekend... Alas, we cannot tell you if it's worth it or not (we've never stayed there), but it received 8.8/10 by 12 reviewers on Priceline.. and price was not too, uh, price-y ($69/night + tax).

30 day cancellation? I've never seen anything more than a 24 hour one....that's shocking, Merlin.

Thats probably the hotels in magnolia.  They have never been faire friendly.  Their prices double (or more) during Oct and Nov.

Confirming that is an easy drive from Tomball. The traffic is usually not too bad.  Should take about 25 - 35 minutes.  It takes us about 45 minutes and Tomball is 15 minutes away.

That hotel is new too - so shouldn't be too bad.
