Sir. Kindle

Hello again,

You gave me such great advice for the my youngest son's costume, that I figured I'd ask for help with my oldest son's new costume. It just arrived yesterday and I think it looks great! However, I'm having a hard time thinking of things to add to it. He does have a little dragon puppet that he can wear on his shoulder, but I'm not sure if it will work well with this outfit...Of course, after the movie 'How to Train a Dragon,' dragons are the "in" thing right now. He also has a small dragon that we got from here: http://www.rtoriginals.com/
I think it will work nicely with the outfit as well.

Here's a picture

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't have any ideas but I have to say that's is dang cute and I LOVE that trim!
as a Viking/Northman myself I'd get him some costume jewlery, Vikings wore thier wealth, a torq perhaps? a few rings, and perhaps a pouch.
"Chase the Morning" "Yield for Nothing!"

I can't tell if he's got any leather pouches, but that might be a good idea--put some coins in it to jingle around (loot from his latest viking trip)

a scabbard for the sword, of course.

If he's not too attached to the red color of the hilt, I'd suggest painting it blue/gray, to make it coordinate better with his costume. The red doesn't really go--if you could make it that same blue-gray color of his costume, I think it would look really good.

maybe some gold chains/loot around his neck. You could get him a wig, and put locks of hair through some rings or beads

Look around and see if you can get some cheap hair clip ons. You can braid them with plastic gold rings attach them to the helmet for more of a viking look.
Or even let them hang loose.

Well, I don't have any advice here... but I do have an interesting little snippet from the local news:

"NineWants ToKnow  Newstip of the day:
Newstip: The horns from the toy viking helmets at Target are missing. It will be very dull, and also hard, for there are no clues yet found."

Can i vote for a yarn beard?!  ;D That was be awesome.

Thank you all for the great ideas!

I like the idea of getting locks and attaching them to the helmet, or finding a wig. That would definitely work well.

I'll have to see if I can dig up some costume jewelry for it as well.

The red sword was actually for another costume, but never really worked. It was the only toy sword we had at the time of taking picture that fit even a little bit. I will definitely, either color it gray/blue, or buy a new one that matches better. Toy swords are very cheap and fairly easy to find on the internet, so I should be able to come up with something.

I'll also have to see if I can find my old sword frog. I haven't used it in years, but it would work nicely for carrying a toy sword around. However, we'll need to get a real belt first and attach the belt buckle to it, since the one that came with the outfit is just a piece of cloth, with wholes punched in it. It couldn't hold the weight of even a toy sword without coming undone.

Finally, I'm not too sure I could get him to wear a yarn beard...heck, I'm not even sure I could FIND a yarn beard for him to wear, let alone get him to wear it. That would be super cute if I could find one though. :D

Thanks again for all the great suggestions. I think I'm going to be super busy as Halloween approaches.
