Where can I buy skirt hitches? I'm a huge fan of etsy and I cannot find any. It could be because I'm not searching on the correct thing. Or, does anyone know how I can make them myself?

THANKS!!!!

Try entering a search for a skirt *hike* instead.  :)

Stasiakatt

can also check ebay...just ordered a set of 2 skirt hikes, and a tankard holder

Woohoo! Thanks. I searched online here and I saw "skirt hitches" and thought when I saw no results anywhere else ther ehad to be another term. Thanks!

Anyone know how to make them? :D

I used the heavy duty clips that hold the cover on an ironing board.

Get some pretty lace or ribbon or what ever catches your eye and go to town with the hot glue gun

Put the skirt on and tuck a length of ribbon, rope, leather thong, etc., into the waistband so that it's half in, half out. Pull the skirt up and tie the ends together in a bow. Pull the bow up near the waistband. Use two if you want a balanced look. Probably best for a middle to lower class character who would want to keep her outer skirt out of the mud, yet be able to quickly drop it back down when in the presence of the upper class and nobility.

LOL, I'm not worried about HA...not one bit. But I enjoyed your comment and I will be actually using that, seems to be the easiest way to do this, so thank you!  Steampunk typically know no class...the bigger the messes (and smudges on your body) the better your gadget and bombs are. ;)

Hmm... If you're doing Steampunk you might try a couple of leather straps with buckles, maybe even studded dog collars. Not the big spikes, but the low diamond shaped studs, especially in brass. Or maybe leather straps with a few well placed gears.

I was taught a method by the people who sell garb under the name "Boss Wench".  They use clothes pins to clip the skirt to the bottom of a corset/bodice, but I think it would work to a belt as well.  The trick is to do it under the fabric so the clothes pins don't show.  I can't find any good pictures of my skirts done up like this, but I'll post one later if I get a chance to take one.

I usually wear three skirts, so to save time with getting all garbed up I've actually sewing the underskirt so that it's hitched up a little bit (it was too long to begin with).  And then I just pull up a bit of the middle skirt and tuck it into my belt.  I wear my belt really tight, so the skirt stays just fine and it holds up the top skirt a bit.  Again, missing pictures.

Then again, I love the leather skirt hikes with the double metal rings.  Most shops that sell belts will also sell skirt hikes, I've found.

Sooo many options, not enough reasons to pull the skirts up to show a little leg...

Perhaps I am crazed I have always used a belt and wrapped my skirts over and under the belt?

I have never seen a hitch or a hike at faire.....you learn something new everyday!
