I need to distress some pieces for a new show coming up, and I hate to spend the time and money on either making something new or a nice new piece.  Not to mention I'd rather destroy something that's already half destroyed anyway!

Does anyone have a good source for used garb other than Ebay?

Goodwill or Salvation army.  Get something close enough and add to it if needed.  That way it's not really garb and you won't feel so bad about destroying it!

Yep, I'm planning on checking both those places- they tend to be pretty picked over around here because one of the big Midwest RF's pretty nearby!

My tutor use to go to areas that had the type of item they needed and offer "New for old"  They would have simular items that they would trade for old items that they needed for their show.  It is how he traded a slightly worn jean jacket for a really nice camel hair poncho.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Weird! I'm taking a fabrics dying class right now and tomorrow is our mid term, where we must distress a blazer jacket and a mens shirt to look really gross. We'll be burning them, dying them, painting them, all sorts of stuff. Let me know how your distressed garb turns out!

This is long term, but for really great looking Halloween distressed clothing bury it in the garden all year! ;D
