This shows woodcuttings of Sir Henry Sidney, apparently triumphant, in Ireland.  Of course, by 1599, there was the "Desmond Rebellion," with most of the same parties fighting another Lord Deputy for Ireland, Robert Devereaux.  The garb, and Sir Henry Sidney seem relevant to the era portrayed by VARF.
