I started studding the doublet this weekend.  It is looking rather menicing now.  Heee  ;D
I found doing the studs was not that difficult.  The only difficulty I ran into was making sure I could see the marks where I wanted the studs to go.  The pleather wouldn't take chalk, so I had to use the actual prongs of the studs to make indentations where I want them to go.  Any suggestions on how to mark out the pattern with out maunally poking with the prongs themselves?

This may be a stupid suggestion but how about a white-out pen? They function vaguely like a ball point but leave white dots in their wake.
If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right!

I used a silver permanent marker with a fine tip to mark small dots where I need. But the white out pen sounds like a good idea as well.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

I've got the several silver pens around. I'll also try the white out pen.

This is what we have always used for leather as well. The best part of using white out instead of silver markers, is if you mismark your leather, it scrapes right off once dry.

Here is a shot before Studds

Here is him in all her regalia at a fitting.  We decided he needs more 'stuff' on the skirted part because it blends into his pants.  And of cource the gauntlets need something.  The PP  gave me some greek letters he thinks would  look cool on the gauntlets.  Though I am a bit worried when he had this evil look in his eye when he gave me the symbols.....

Wasn't that hard, was it.  ;D

I honestly was suprised it only took me maybe...3 hours? to studd the doublet.  I swear it has taken me more time to decorate the thing, than actually make it.
I did get asked, "How can you stand to it there and put in each one?"  I turned to them and said, "You are talking to some one who does huge 22 stiches per inch cross stitch for FUN.  Putting in 100 or so studds, not exactly challanging.

Though the look on the guy who is playing Hercules was priceless. Due to him being a non royal soldier person he doesn't get the finery stuff, just a basic tunic witha plain  brown grometed doublet.  He looks great in it but... no shiny metal studdy stuff. :)  He tried it on, and handed it to the guy who it belonged to and said, "Sometimes it pays to be the bad guy."  ;D
