Well said.  I will add one thing though.  I have learned over the years that your experience out at fair is what you make it. Several years ago I was one of those people on these forums who would complain about all the changes that I didn't like. Then I made a choice to go out there and enjoy the things I love about fair and not worry about the changes George makes that I disagree with.

Strange

I think I can honestly say that for the most part, I've never been disappointed in the talent level of any of the acts I've seen at TRF.
I've seen Sound and Fury go thru 2 lineup changes, and they're still great. Arsene is probably one of the funniest acts I've ever seen, and he doesn't even talk. The Bard O'Neill has an encyclopedic repertoire, and she's mastered every song. It's even more amazing to me that they can do it all live, multiple times a day, and bring the energy and grace and humor every time.
I am really looking forward to checking out The Steele Sisters, Near By Far, and Clan Tynker (since I missed them last time around), as well as weeing the new cast, particularly the Transylvanians ;)
I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Actually, I will probably be disappointed, but only because I didn't get down to the Highland Rat in time to get that week's themed rat...

The entertainment at TRF has ALWAYS been top notch.  Never a dull moment.

No German Brothers though? That thought makes me a teeny bit sad, but like other people have said, I will try to take this in stride and find another group who will hit on me as I wait for my husband to come out of the bathroom!

And it was my first fair too! Great way to welcome me into the fold!

I don't know if we'll be able to attend or not but I would not be missing the German Twins.  I saw one of the guys seriously hit on an underage girl at Scarborough.  He kept inviting her backstage & wouldn't let up until the woman with the girl said 'You know she's 17?'.  He backed off but I felt skeevy & I wasn't even the one being hit on.

I think faires should be a mix of new & old.  Maybe 75% old & 25% new is a good mix (assuming some acts don't want to come back or were not successful).  I know everyone has their favorites but usually by the end of our local faire season I have a good idea who will not be asked back.

I won't exactly miss the German brothers either. The cuurent incarnation has lost something in the translation.

I could see where the act could get.. stale.. after awhile. Was it always those two or have different performers taken up the role in past years?

The German Brothers are a group of three performers who rotate out so there is always a pair of them performing.  They are from Minnesota so travel and lodging can be very expensive for them. They also have full time jobs in the real world and one member also has a toddler at home, so staying closer to home is important.

Many times when performers do not return to TRF it is by their choice.  Usually expense is the main reason if they live out of state, or several hundred miles away and the cost of travel, and the time included is prohibitively expensive.  And just the time spent traveling can become tiresome.

I enjoyed the German Brothers very much, they are a fun group of guys.

Just get me inside the gate please!  I am so ready for some faire fun!  :)  I am sure the cast has much to do to prepare but I am soooo ready!  Now?  Can we have faire now please?

It would be awesome if TRF had a preview event like Scarborough does.  I haven't been able to attend a preview at Scarborough but I have heard nothing but great things about it.
