Thank you but I logged off by accident.  I am listening to the scanner and they aren't saying anything about a fire near there and they haven't expanded the evac zones.  Do you think your friend could have been seeing smoke from 1486?

Anyone listening to the scanner?  I have heard calls to Homeland Security for location confirmation....  What are they doing?  Honest question, not sure what their role would be...

The wind has turned north... as long as nothing is south of you, you may be good.

I may sound like a broken record, but don't take any chances.

My dad has some connections....  long story.  He was at the command center today.  They are hoping they can get the fire out within the next 2 weeks but could be a month or more.  Apparatus have arrived from as far away as the Galveston Fire Department.  Crews flew in today from California and New York.  The Texas Forestry Service is working with all the chiefs to formulate plans at this time.  Reports are that TRF is the main staging area for law enforcement.  This includes the Texas Rangers who are on site

They are deparately in need of all sizes of men and women's underwear.  Drop them at the fire stations you can get to safely.  When their underwear gets wet they chaff and so keeping dry underwear on is very important.  They have nurses and doctors at the command center.  They need cough drops, lip balm, nose spray and as much Neosporin as they can get.  Firemen are getting cut up by debris and woods.

My co-worker was working in Walmart during the fire in Conroe.  People started 5 separate fires in 5 departments in the store.  This was followed by makeshift Molotav cocktails on Loop 336 and Highway 105.  No word on if they were caught but the store was evacuated for ventilation purposes at least.

Here are some photos:

I did not take this one but this is the DC-10 doing the drop today.

I took this one this afternoon on Highway 105

I took this one this afternoon in Cut N Shoot

I did not take this one but it is of the flare up this evening

I took this one this evening on the Hardy Toll Road

Another shot I took this evening on the Hardy Toll Road

A shot I took this evening on I-45 in The Woodlands

For our friends out of State.  This is a picture from this evening of the docks in Lake Conroe.  The lake is very low.

A shot I took this evening from Rayford Road

Current report from the Texas Forestry Service:  RILEY ROAD, Grimes/Montgomery/Waller counties. 15,000-plus acres, 60 percent contained. Active fire behavior was observed yesterday as the fire moved to the southwest in Waller County. Approximately seventy-five homes have been destroyed on this fire burning just west of Magnolia.

Notice that this fire has now consumed 15,000-plus acres.

Weather Outlook For The State:  A surface ridge of dry high pressure will maintain a dry air mass and northerly component to the flow to much of the Lone Star state into early next week. A weak surface trough of low pressure in place over the panhandle during may lead to some localized gusty winds at times over the far northern portions of the panhandle where an isolated shower or thunderstorm could occur. The pressure gradient will be strongest near the Interstate 35 corridor today, where winds should again be around 10 mph sustained for a few hours in the late afternoon to early evening hours. Relative humidity this afternoon will be similar to yesterday afternoon, with minimum relative humidity below 20 percent across most of the state. High temperatures will range in the 80s and 90s in general, but will approach 100 over Deep South Texas. Poor overnight recoveries will continue for areas away from the coast, especially locations west of Interstate 35. Dry conditions will continue as high pressure over the Southern Plains continues to push dry air over the East Branch. Winds will be lighter with more variable through the morning hours becoming north and northeast during the afternoon 5 to 8 mph with gusts up to 15 mph. Mostly sunny skies with afternoon highs in the upper 80s to mid-90s. The relative humidity will fall back into the 12-20 percent range and 25-35 percent south where a late afternoon sea breeze will creep inland. Poor to moderate overnight recoveries 50-60 percent in the northwest to 65-85 percent in the east and south.

Fortunately, you cat get pretty much anything at walmart, so you have lots of "Options for Justice" should you happen to catch one of these people.
Sporting goods has shotguns, bowie knives, and fishhooks
There are axes, utility blades, and duct tape in the tools dept
Menswear has socks, and bars of soap and Mentholatum are in HBA.
It's a virtual smorgasbord of sadism!

Good morning

We are still at the house.  It was a quiet night for us, thank goodness.

From the Magnolia Area Chamber of Commerce FB page about 8 minutes ago:

Magnolia Area Chamber of Commerce
Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office Indigo Lake Estates has not been evacuated at this time....to make sure you are notified if you are being evacuated...please go to www.mc911.org and register yourself with your address and all phone numbers linked to your address (home and cell phones). Once this is done, you will receive a phone call if your area is being evacuated.

This is our neighborhood.  I am researching now as to why our area is even being mentioned.  Not sure if there were new issues close by during the night.  We are registered for the 911 evac calls.
