My husband and I are attending MIRF for the first time this weekend. We are planning to go on Saturday, which happens to be his birthday. I am wondering if there is anything special you can do for a birthday there? anyplace in particular to go? or, you know, someplace where people will humiliate him by singing happy birthday?

thanks.

Yay for first time attendees! Pretty much any of the cast members would love to humiliate him with a happy birthday song, though I believe the royal court does a particularly loud and obnoxious job of it ;) If you go to the Maypole at one of their scheduled dance times, I bet the peasant dancers would pull him into a dance. I would also definitely recommend finding Mother Superior (she'll be the only one dressed like a nun) and telling her it's his birthday AND that you're first timers at MiRF.
Sometimes you can't wait for the storm to pass; you have to just get out there and dance in the rain.

Mother Superior and the Jail are common Birthday fun.

Poldugarian Warrior

I'm not sure if he's there this year, but Christof the Insulter does a terrific job of embarrassing people whether it be their birthday or not so seek him out. Also, just go to a pub and tell the band playing or even one of the many acts there and they make a point to say something.

Celtic Lady

Most definitely have him arrested and taken to the jail...
I hope he has a good sense of humor if you are wanting to humiliate him publicly.

These are great ideas:) now I just hope we get to go.....the weather has taken a rather awful downturn this week. We're also camping just now, and the nice sunny 70 degrees all week that was predicted has turned into 50-60 with lots of rain.
Ive worked hard on these costumes/outfits, and this is actually a lot of money for us to spend just now....I dont want to go just to sit in the rain. Im really hoping the weather turns around! just one sunny day....but its Michigan, so who knows!

Saturday will be my first visit to MiRF too! And as such, I shall not allow it to rain to the point of ruining our visit!  :)
As of 2pm Thursday...72/52 degrees with a 30% chance of precipitation....described as isolated T-storms. Translation - a quick downpour or passing shower...nothing you can't duck into the Guinness pub (or any shop) to escape. Wear appropriate footwear...I hear it can get a little muddy.

"A little muddy" is a huge understatement. If you have waterproof shoes of any kind, wear them :)
