Greetings all! As my friends have been asking me this question and Ive finally given up and going to ask you guys, the experts. :)

they use a double turkey burner which is propane powered as a grill and is put on a table, but the rules say no fire.. how does this fit into the   ban?? ie describe exactly what constitues a propane stove??

Id rather be certain than go out there and  the "powers that be" say no then its a long  hungry weekend going from   camp to camp asking for hot things..LOLOLOL..

advice anyone???

I would think TRF would say no to the Turkey Fryer, however I would call TRF office and ask for sure. I could be wrong.

Hi Tyrod... ::waves::   ;D.

I don't think it would too big a of deal, provided our red haired friend doesn't try to burn his eyebrows off again setting it too high.  Also keeping the fire extinquisher right next to to, instead of in a tub 'somewhere'.  Lastly, I wouldn't have it on unless you are cooking, never leaving it unattended even for a second, making sure nothing and no one will hit it. Common sense.

It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

If the stove has a tank next to it, filled with propane, which completely extinguishes the fire when you turn the knob on top, then it is a propane stove.
:)

Kidding, mate.  But seriously, we had a stove with three burners (crawfish burner style), the flame on them was wide open just like a tiny campfire, except that the flames are completely extinguished when you turn off the burner.  Not a single soul said anything about that, or me smoking (cigarettes and a pipe) at my campsite, sitting on a blanket and next to a large bucket that I had filled with sand to use as an ashtray.  I guess that is their logic in allowing propane, as a campfire can't be turned off so quickly.
oops.

Current Policy in effect in Grimes County and at TRF:
Camping

Grimes County Burn Ban is in Effect.  This means that the TRF grounds will NOT ALLOW the following:

·         Bon Fires
·         Fireworks
·         Open flame fires (BBQ or fire pit)
·         Open Flame Heating Devices
·         Colman-style fueled lighting devices

We will allow smoking in DESIGNATED AREAS ONLY!  The camping area will have a designated smoking location.

TRF will allow the use of:

·         Electric Lighting devices
·         Electric Heaters
·         Generators
·         Propane cooking devices
·         Smoking in designated areas

Parking Lot

·         No Smoking
·         No open flames
Facility

The Royal Fireworks display has been canceled for 2011 based on the burn ban notice and extreme drought conditions in Grimes County.  We are currently working on a suitable replacement show.  In addition, the use of smoking materials, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, etc. must be disposed in suitable non-combustible containers.

Does it look like the campground fire ban will stay in place for the remaining two weekends?

At this point, yes. It is a county-wide fire ban, not just TRF.
