2011 TRF Policy Changes
Fire Policy Updates Due to Extreme Drought

Due to the extreme drought and wild fire issues that have affected Grimes County and the surrounding areas, it is the position of the TRF staff that the following policies are in place in order to ensure the safety of the festival grounds, staff and patrons for the 2011 season.   This policy will be in effect moving forward unless the area experiences significant rain in the coming weeks.

Camping
Grimes County Burn Ban is in Effect.  This means that the TRF grounds will NOT ALLOW the following:
•   Bon Fires
•   Fireworks
•   Open flame fires (BBQ or fire pit)
•   Open Flame Heating Devices
•   Smoking Materials, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, etc.
•   Colman-style fueled lighting devices (Lanterns)

TR will allow the use of:
•   Electric Lighting devices
•   Electric Heaters
•   Generators
•   Smoking in designated area

Parking Lot
•   No Smoking
•   No open flames

Facility
The Royal Fireworks display has been canceled for 2011 based on the burn ban notice and extreme drought conditions in Grimes County.  In addition, the use of smoking materials, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, etc. must be disposed in suitable non-combustible containers.

It looks like a cold camp this year.  Luckily Beanie Weenies can be eaten cold...

I'm bummed about the fireworks, but I understand why. Wonder if they'll do anything else instead, perhaps a laser show? Not that I care much for laser shows, personally, it's just not as much fun  to me as smelling gunpowder and hearing things go *bang*!, but it'd be something...
"It's just water, officer, I swear. And yeast. And a little honey. How the alcohol got in, I have no idea!"

Also wonder about morning & evening cannon.

Aiacha

Yes

I think it is also on the TexRenFest facebook site.

Aiacha

Thanks.  I didn't see it on their site, but I wanted to get the word out.

PB and J FTW!
*Short enough to not reach the pedals, tall enough for the rides at Six Flags!*

I'm splendid. That is all.

I know this sucks but I'd rather see this happen than faire burn down! Participants have never been allowed to have fire... we are always cold.

The thing I just know is gonna be a problem is the cigarettes. You can't put 10,000+ people on an honor system not to smoke in their own camp and dispose of them the correct way.

The amount of people carelessly tossing their butts out the window ( some I have seen ON SITE) shows that the habit of disposing it quick and easy does in fact die hard.

I just wish people who smoked would realize that it is a very real and very big danger. You want to smoke FINE but please do not burn everything down because you need some nicotine.

Simple fix... yet it doesn't seem to faze most of them.

I'm sad and happy about the fireworks.... happy cause they are a danger sad because they really are a wonderful end to the day.

I mostly agree with you on this.  A lot of smokers do not think or care.  I, for one, make sure that I put my butts out and dispose of them in the trash as I am walking around TRF.  I consider TRF just as much as my home as the next rennie, and I hate to see folks litter.  Even if it is butts, it is still litter.  Just do me a favor and not jump every smoker you see.  Just the careless and stupid ones.  :)

I wonder if a fully enclosed tent stove with spark arrest is ok?

Reminds me of

I would call the office & ask. However, if it has any kind of flame at all, they're probably going to say no.
