Lady Laura, I agree pushing too hard could anger management and cause issues, but Terre doesn't seem the type who will overreact or pull something drastic in the face of reasonable and and well reasoned requests from parts of the community.

Emails or a respectfully submitted petition are vastly different from ranting phone calls and showing up at the festival office with torches and pitchforks (not to mention swords, axes, war hammers, maces, flails, morning stars, halberds, daggers, bill hooks, quarter staffs, horseman's picks and god only knows what else folks have in their tents).

I think there is a honest desire to make things better, at the very least in the hope of making them even more profitable, on the part of some in TRF management right now.  We may not always agree with their idea of better, but there is certainly common ground to be found.  We can't find the common ground unless both sides look for it.

That's what family camping is for.  Quiet area away from the main campground.

Yeah. RIGHT!  When's the last time you camped within 200-300 yards of trains, screaming by at full horn blasting run throughout the night?  Every time they roar through, the noise that is left behind is the sound of crying and whimpering children stirring in their tents.  Parents tune this out, the rest of us hear them and take note.

Quiet family camping is by no means quiet, it's main benefit is that it's isolated enough to not be appealing to scum and thieves.  Nice that people have to resort to this just to get away from the rabble.

Stalk well...

I live next to a major highway, in a neighborhood where cop cars are common.  I suppose I learn to deal with the noise.

Family camping means the CAMPING noise levels go down at a certain time.

Bottom line is that if there is enough complaining, enough trouble, enough times, the campgrounds could be shut down, or the price go sky high.  Now, personally, I doubt they will get shut down if there is income from camping. Keep in mind it costs money for insurance to allow people to camp, as well as to hire security.  If the damages outweigh the income, the faire would probably consider that.

Some faires do not allow camping for this very reason.  I doubt there will ever be a motel within a few miles (ie 5-10) of TRF since it is so far off the beaten path.  It would not be able to sustain during non-faire times. So the choices are camp and deal with people who don't respect other's playthings and playtime, or drive to a motel.  I've done my share of camping, and I have outgrown it entirely.  I will take the drive back to a motel.  Late-night/allnighters just no longer appeal to me.

I hope a solution can be found.  As for the train - well, not much can be done about that.

Let me clarify the situation for you, since you seem to not be comprehending what has happened...

People on this forum have been ASSAULTED to the point of hospitalization
People on this forum have been RAPED, and others- namely myself and one other here who I shall not name unless he chooses to okay it- have barely prevented other rapes
People related to those on this forum have been DRUGGED
People related to those on this forum have been STABBED
People on this forum- and a whole bunch of innocent bystanders- have nearly been BLOWN UP

This goes way beyond disrespecting belongings.
