Don't know of any other hat makers, except Captain Jack Hats. One of my clients whom I made a Barbossa coat for, ordered his Captain Barbossa Hat from them and it ws beautiful. How fast they could make your hat, I do not know. Give them a call or email as to how fast they can make you a Customized Captain Teague hat. Let them know your circumstances.

But as far as your coat, I have that cut out and ready to get the designs put on before I head out to Reno for 2 weeks. I will have to do some tucks here and there of the designs to make them fit better. They will hardly show. The hand sewing of the cording is what will take the longest to do to make it look as it should. I am holding up my end.

This a spitball in the dark, but have you talked to the people at excaliber leather (I know they work with Renboots).  I know they have done custom pirate hats for people before.  They might be able to help you out.  Like I said shot in the dark.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Milady K, I have ZERO doubts in you, and tis that which keeps me going, truly. That coat for certain will be the most beautiful piece of all.  ;D

Seems Milady Gryphon has been hard at work while her Lord has slumbered and one of our members the wonderful Ms. C Dragonwerks has volunteered to take on the hat issue. So once again, all is well with the realm.  ;D

As a side note, Captain Jack was contacted by myself yesterday and he was more than willing to do the hat. However, he has been snowed in wherever he lives and has been without power for several days and he is backed up on orders. It would have been around 8 weeks or more to get it done. Anyone who knows him may want to drop him an email and wish him well in getting his realm restored. :)

My first words were WOW.  and I think that covers it.  Magnificent Lady Kathleen.  You are awesome.

Why do I feel like I've worn something like this before?

amy

Pardon Lady K... but did I miss how the edges of the gold are finished?

Sitara

Amy, if I recall correctly, she said that she would be hand-sewing gold cording for the edges.

All the cording is going to go around the edges of the Silk. I am going to make sure I catch well the silk and cording together to save time in not having to sew the design down seperately. Which is why I will have pins all over the place. The cording is what gives the design its detail.

The hand sewing will be a test of my patience. Photos when I get back home.

Also, I am doing my very best to keep in the spirit of the original design. I do not think I have seen a comporable coat by another vendor as the one I am doing.

There truly is no other coat like this one. Well, save for your second commission anyway.  ;D My excitement and happiness is by no means feigned. I am in deep wonderment and when I showed the leader of the "Krewe" I am joining the sleeve pic, he was in a word or two, completely thunderstruck.  ;D

I have been all over the net and looked at all other ( very few around, really. And only found one selling their version of the outfit ) Teagues and nothing comes close to even warrant a comparison, IMO. So again I am in deepest awe and utmost respect for your epic skills, Milady *Sweeping Bow*

I am curious though, is the other coat to be made for a Teague or he just wants the coat. If he was to be a Teague also, it would be very fun to cross paths at some time ( and get a Hades load of pics, lol )  ;D

Thanks for the tech tip.  I was just curious if you thought you might have to turn it under even with the couched on cord.   Can't wait!

Update:

The hat is donnnnnnnne!   *Happydance*

I will be picking it up (and yes, by cracky, wearing it, don't care what it looks like with my current garb ) at Sherwood this weekend at the meetup.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Major MAJOR huggz, shameless plugs and shoutout to C Dragonworks from this board. She stepped up when my supposed "professional" merchant canceled the order on me and only a couple weeks to go for my NEEDED deadline. She is indeed an awesome craftsperson and her and hubby are far more than just casual friends, they are great friends for helping out. Thanks just does not cover it. * I see Rum in your future, ohhhmmmm...... * ;D

And she has some other incredible items for sale too. Definitely a recommended vendor AND friend.  ;D
