Okay, maybe it's the ambien, but I'm having difficulty understanding her replacement pattern instructions for the paned cap sleeve. She says to discard pieces 15A-15H, but then doesn't give another 15 A, and throws in a 15i?! What the french toast?! She said the original pieces were missing seam allowances, should I just use one size up for pattern piece A? Or should I email her directly? (thought you guys would be a quicker resource--I'm working on borrowed time here!) Or are the effects of my ambien messing with my mind lol?? HELP!!

Take 15i and see what it looks like.  If it has no seam allowances, just add them: either trace the pattern piece onto another sheet of paper and draw in the SA or pin the piece on the cloth and chalk in the SA round it.

I know there were problems like this with some of the early editions of the patterns.  I downloaded replacement bits from her website and just printed them off, but I now don't remember which bits for which pattern, as it was years ago.  Another pattern had additional bits added like this already in the envelope.

Thanks Kate. 15i is teeny tiny, what's missing is the actual sleeve itself. So I think I'll do what you suggested since I'm tracing the pattern pieces onto plastic anyway (not my pattern, can't cut it). I'll just add the SA. Thanks again!

Take a look and see if you have a bit called 'foundation layer', 'lining',  or something similar.

MA is a learning experience... I learned how to draft pattern pieces ^_^.

'lining' or 'interlining' are also interchangable terms on these patterns.  On the paned breeches I believe she called it the 'foundation' (like kate said) or the 'underlayment', something like that.

Haven't done this precise pattern or treatment, but I have drafted panes before from a basic sleeve pattern. I'm not familiar with the pattern pieces, so I hope I'm not simply telling you something that's completely obvious already!  :D

Do you have the pieces for the regular paned sleeve? Trace those off (twice, so you have one to make the sleeve itself and one for the panes that attach to it). Then, deciding how many panes you want and how wide you want them, divide the sleeve into "strips." Cut them apart and trace them again, this time adding seam allowances to each side of the strip. (Discard that first tracing you cut up.) Here's a tutorial. I didn't read the whole thing (hers had math, in case you want to draft them from scratch), but you want to end up with a pattern that looks like this.

Kate--another good suggestion, I'll look.
Rowen--backing up the Katester's recommendation--thanks!
Gem--ever and always with the brilliant and helpful ideas and tutorials! Thanks everyone!
