I'm going to be doing some face painting this summer and I know some others on the site face paint as well.
Where do ya'll get your paints? everywhere I've looked is pretty expensive and I'm trying to do this as low budget as I can because it's just a fun way to make some extra cash and to keep myself busy enough to not spend it all that weekend... :)

I have a few that I got from wally world for like 2 bucks but they only had 2 containers of it and very ugly looking colors..

Try Snazzaroo. Its water based and comes in a lot of colors. I know some people who do face painting gigs and Snaz is what they use. Its nice stuff and fairly easy to work with.

I was told by the vendor we went to for my daughters face that they just use ordinary acrylic craft paint like the Folk Art brand sold at most hobby stores.  Is this not true?

from what i've read plain acrylic is bad for the skin and can cause allergic reactions and stain clothes/furniture

Makes me wonder how many of these stands you see around are using face paint or cheaper craft paint.

One place we went to a few years ago (carnival) did airbrushing with face paint and stencils.  It was done very well!
I used to do face painting for a work party for staff's children, and most craft stores have kits now.   Some even come with pencils and temp tattoos and glitter too.

I've done facepainting before, the scout troop I used to assistant lead does it as a fundraiser, the paints were donated or supplied by the troop then though, and I'm not sure where they got it...

How did the face painting go?  I'm intrested in learning to face paint and all there is to learn about it. ;D  I always want to get my face painted at faire and where ever one might find a face painter, but feel silly and a little to old for it.  So I figure the next best thing is to help other fill their love having their face painted!   :)
