He brought me a new sewing machine!  A Brother.  It has embroidery capabilities, too.  There are over 70 patterns stored in it, and you can download either theirs (if you buy them) or your own from online.

This is for the gal who can sew a straight line if she tries about 20 times!  I am on a first name basis with my stitch ripper.  I call it Jack.
Hopefully, the CD with the instructions will be easy to learn with.  Plus, Sir Richard of Galena is a great tailor, so I know he will help.

I am so excited!!!!

P.S.  Santa also brought me a skull & crossbone necklace on a red background from a merchant at Bristol.

That's because I've been a very good girl!   You can ask Steve!!!!!  :D

ROFLOL!  I just got the joke.

But in all seriousness, maybe this will be "The Year I Learned To Sew" for you.  You've got a nice machine, now, just DO it!

Wickedvox

I'm "SEW" excited for you! HA! See what I did there? Brother makes long-lasting machines. Isn't getting machines fun?! I'm jealous of the embroidery capability! My husbands godmother/aunt entrusted us to be the newest guardians of his great-buscha's (grandmother's) Montgomery Ward treadle machine. Needs a belt of course, but nothing is seized up. I'm excited to try it. Also I've been blessed with enough cash/Joann gift cards to make one very nice purchase of fabric...I can't decide what project to spend it on! Yeeeeaaa Christmas sewing presents!

Congrats on the machine, and I hear ya about being on a first name basis with the seam ripper.   Lessons learned....

As another person who just barely learned how to sew in a straight line last year, I'm excited to get back on the machine again to make a new outfit for myself and the lady.  I'm sure we'll keep each other entertained and motivated on these forums.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

It's been 8 days since Christmas, and the machine just came out of the box today.  That's as far as I've gotten.   ::)

I tried reading the instruction manual, gave up.  Will get back to it when the craziness of the holidays - and of work just after the holidays - settles down.
