How far would you travel?

I'd really like to volunteer or work at a faire, but I'm not sure how far I'm willing to drive.

What's the longest distant you would drive if you were only volunteering?

I'm an hour away from my closest Faire, so I guess an hour.  =)

The Duchess and I are volunteer performers at the non-profit Santa Fe Renaissance Festival in New Mexico.  It is approximately 350 miles from our home in Colorado to that festival, but then the SFRF is only a one-weekend affair.

I would probably be willing to drive no more than two hours one one way to volunteer at a multi-weekend festival, assuming I could find free or very inexpensive lodging.

Hope that helps.

There is another thread on this topic. 5-6 hr drive is probably the most I would do now days. The trip wears me out.

Ditto... I will add that a 5-6 hour drive for faire would not be an annual occurrence either.
Gas and lodging aren't free, and most of the time I have to take vacation time to attend.  The last few years we have been restricting ourselves to an approximately 300 miles radius of home unless we have a really pressing reason to attend a particular fair.
We like to be able to take some time to see the local sites too (if any), and if half the weekend is taken up on the road, just to arrive exhausted, there seems little point in making the trip.
Longer trips are practically always reserved for family.

It would all depend on the individual person, lodging and overall reasoning for attending.  I, myself, have travelled over 400 miles to volunteer at a faire for just one weekend.  I've been doing it for 10 years now and the main reason for doing it is the fun that is had along with the friends who work it.
