Hello everyone I'm new here (very new) but have been going to Scarborough for years and have never really been good at meeting any new friends while I'm out there and want to give it a shot. I've been an FOF for three years and recognize a lot of the faces but I don't know anyone. Would anyone be interested in possibly meeting this weekend at Faire and hanging out? Also any suggestions on how to meet people at Faire? I end up so engrossed in the shows that I don't do as much socializing as I'd like.

sure, I'll be rolling with a Posse, so one more couldn't hurt!

well one surefire way to meet people is to be at the row 12 tailgate.  well... we call it a tailgate but its mostly the SCOT'S and the rest of us early arrivers.

We start pulling in around 7am but the bulk shows up closer to 8-8:30.

DonaCatalina

You could join us for the Row 12 party breakfast; which seems to be taking over Row 11 as well. Look for the Spanish flag among all the St Andrew's crosses. We also try to do a meet & greet at the bakery after cannon.

I had the same problem. Now I know a few people and it is because I started coming earl to park on row 12 and following  DonaCatalina around.
I now what is like to be shy, but it is SO much more fun we you know people at the fair. Please come see us on Saturday.

Welcome to the chaos! i look like that picture over there <--- almost always, and will be rolling with a faire newbie this weekend and probably a few others. feel free to snag me if you see me. i am AWFUL at finding people and still fairly shy about approaching people (even if you are on the boards.. please don't think i'm rude, just terrible at walking up to people!) but i never mind being accosted. so please do! sadly, i don't usually make it early enough for the tailgating festivities.  :-\
look up into the stars, and you're gone.

I'll definitely try to make it for the tailgate then! I drive from Denton so we will see how early I can make it. Sometimes making the opening cannon is difficult lol! Ill probably roll in around 8 though if I try hard enough. I typically run around dressed like an amazingly short pirate. I'll have to grab you guys and introduce myself! :)

Yes, do! I will be in a giant powdered wig saturday, and hopefully there in time for tailgate (which I missed last time). It sounds like there are many of us in this boat my dear! Can't wait to see you all!

I'm pretty eas to find out there. Kind of. I am a pirate wearing a coin skirt. Definitely not exactly right but what can I say, I like to jingle ^-^

I will definitely look for the powdered wig. That can't be too hard to spot. I know after cannon I usually head over the the weapons demo at the armory and the first Birds of Prey show where a friend of mine works so if I don't make it to the tailgate feel free to snag me if you see me in that general area.

I'm the exact same way!  looks like we are all in the same boat!  At least we're in good company!

(it's that awkward silence that usually follows the "Hi, I'm so-in-so" that keeps me bogged down!)

(I've found alcohol really helps relieve that nervous tension!  haha)

<---  Oh, and I look like this pic as well... but, I let myself get a bit shaggier over the last year...  so imagine that face but a bit more "Grizzly Adams!"

I'm going to make an attempt to be there, yes...  probably around 8:30-8:45ish though

I'll be bringing faire virgins with me, and we'll all be riding together, so my timing will be at their mercy!  We'll see how that goes!

sadly i wont be there tomorrow and im unsure about Sunday as well.  I am typically one of the first to show up so I am almost always on the end of the lane so im pretty easy to find.   (black kia suv with the rear door up and a green chair)

But i wish you well with your meet/greet.   If you are there other weekends,  feel free to stop by and say hi.  Look forward to meeting you.

I feel sooo bad that I have been busy showing around my "companion ticket" people, and not had any time for you good folks!!!  Today was the last day of my free friends!  I hope to share tomorrow with other faire friends and I wish so badly to make new friends as well!  (That means when you see me, please attack me and say hi!!!  Merlin the Elder and Nimue, Dona Catalina and her husband, and Lady Kett and her husband can vouch for me...  I do NOT bite too hard!!!)

I saw and spoke with Oswyn a little bit after closing cannon!
I hope to see many people at the tailgate tomorrow, as well as spend MUCH time with everyone else inside the gate!!!

Unfortunately, I won't have much to offer tomorrow at the tailgate, as my Mead was FAAAR more popular than expected... But I will have a small taste to ANYONE who seeks me out, and speaks the code word...  ;)   (I ABSOLUTELY LOVE seeing other's enjoyment of my creation!!!)
