Hello friends!

I am currently pursuing an opportunity to play the role of Queen Elizabeth at a new start up faire in June. Nothing is confirmed at this time, but I have been in discussion with the owner. This would be a role I would cherish dearly, as I have long had this ambition!

As this is the first year, the faire is not going with a house cast - so no court / villagers to interact with. I will likely know many of the performers, and possibly a good number of vendors.

The owner has asked me to detail just "what I could do".  He mentioned knighting kids, making little girls feel special, and being present for the joust.... but I thought you all would have some other ideas....

So... Queens and Royalty - what do you do outside of interaction with the rest of the cast? Playtrons and others - what sorts of things do you like to see from your queen?

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Hi Rowan!

M'lord is willing - but other than that, unless I can find a lady in waiting willing to do this for free, no. It is a new faire, and the costs are quite high - the owner is agreeable to my audacious offer, so long as the cost is not prohibitive.

I will be suggesting to the owner that while on progress through the nearby country, I decided to flee the courtiers and politicing for the day, and came upon this lovely faire, attended by only my master of horse (yes, I know, quite scandolous!). Intending to visit incognito, I am discovered at the gate, with only the one attendant. I am hoping that the jousters will step up and ensure my protection (in a general sort of way), and I am sure that the vendors and other performers will play along.

Of course, it is not ideal - it will be a challenge to be a queen without a court - but I am hoping this creative group can help with ideas!

That sounds like a great story line!

When we go to faire, we like royalty that is approachable.  Regal, but still we can go up to and speak with.  You could use the patrons as part of the act, by every so often going up to different ones and saying something like, "hush, pretend I'm not the queen.  I've escaped my court and guards for the day - so boring to have to listen to all the bickering all the time about who will hold my chalice or carry my lapdog."

If you really ham it up and bring them into the plot of trying to hide you, it would make for great interaction.  And a couple of "when they find out who I really am, it will be off with his head!"
