We've all heard them.  Pink isn't period.  Only royalty can wear purple.   They didn't have glasses in the middle ages.  There are a ton of myths out there perpetuated by those that have apparently never set foot into a museum.

One of the ones I came across recently was in regards to hairstyles.  They didn't have bangs in the Renaissance.   Like everything, time and place is key.  In Italy, bangs/fringe was very popular in the late 15th c, early 16th c.  Now, they didn't always wear their bangs straight down to the eyebrow like we do today - they often parted them to frame the eyes.  However, it's still clearly short hair towards the front of the face and only takes an extra couple of seconds in the morning to get your hair to do the same thing.

The first one is about 1470's.  The second is 1510's.  Both are Italian.

Any other Renaissance Faire myths we need to bust?
