Saw a posting on Facebook about someone trying to get a year-round Renaissance village off the ground
http://www.townoftaylor.com/

QuoteAnnually, we offer many various events such as:
~ 3 Yearly Renaissance Faires lasting a month each
~ 2-6 Yearly Bellegarth, Amptgard, and SCA fighting events
~ 5-10 Full feasts (based on various traditional celebrations)
~ Many live Role Playing Game tournaments (lasting various durations)
When you die can you donate your body to pseudo-science?

I looked at the site.  It looks like a wonderful rennie dream.  They are just getting started and asking for money.

While it seems okay, potential donors needs to get more information.  There are a few red flags raised at a quick view.

The photos are all stock photos available on-line. They are sample images of what the builders are planning.

It is described as a co-op community.

It is projected for 2019.

Syntax of language throughout uses future and present tense making it sound like it might already be a physical entity instead of framing all language as being in the future.

Phone number is a California cell number.

Address brings up a street corner (labeled as approximate) showing the side of Stevenson City Hall, a Living Faith Church (cannot find their address or phone number quickly on-line), plus a couple houses across the corner.

This appears to be a new site, the links are not fully designed and activated.

Facebook Page was started February 2, 2014.

No names are given for any of the organizers.  While there is a phone number and address listed, notice on page says "All Official Correspondence must be through TownofTaylor@yahoo.com"

It would be nice if someone actually pulled off a medieval/renaissance village that was workable.  The few themed villages out there are only "fronts" with people there part-time, volunteering, etc.

Interesting. WA also has Camlann, which I guess is more of a Colonial Williamsburg sort of thing.

The Town of Taylor concept is intriguing. I hope they get it off the ground. I'd certainly visit. Has anyone been to the Camlann Medieval village?
