So last year I noticed some RV's parked in the "rows".....are the rows designated for any type of camping in particular? Thanks!

As far as I know, the rows are for whomever gets there first.  Of course, I could be mistaken.

Yes, the rows are now open for general camping.  Mike had posted some info at one time but you'll have to dig to find it by now.  I saw several groups scouting those areas out yesterday.  And as Tink said, all sites are first come....

You cant camp along the row that runs by the road going into the fair. It is used for handicap overflow if needed.

I wasn't really paying attention when I left on Saturday, but I think that I recall the gravel either removed, or covered over by grass in the lanes that can be camped in.  Perhaps someone can verify.  I don't trust my memory anymore.

Thanks for the input everyone. Thanks for the clarification Mike! See you there!

Another question while I am at it. We are purchasing a generator and are debating uber expensive quite generator vs affordable loud generator. If we are in the "loud" camping area will people be seriously offended by a loud generator??? i have trouble coughing up and additional $3000 bucks to provide quite when theres ALOT of other noise happening.

As the resident generator hater (o:
If you decide to go economical, I urge you to do everything in your power to minimize the noise.  I recall some threads long ago with examples of noise dampening.  You may have to do some Google searches and get creative.

Also, if you come in late (Anytime after noon on Friday), and you set up next to another camp, please do your very best to keep the noise away from your neighbors.

We are leaving a spot that we have been camping in for the last 10 years (roughly) because, for the last three years or so, someone always shows up Saturday morning while we are in faire and sets a generator directly behind my tent.  They ensure that there is 100 feet and a pickup between their tent and the generator however.  I detest these people.

Be kind with your generator and it will survive the night (o:

I had some good results using plywood to reflect/deflect generator noise... of course, i was along the tree line so the noise was headed back into the woods.

I'm with KP on this.  I'm a tent camper and have had the joy of being woken up in the middle of the night by someone who came in late and decided to put their 30 year old RV & generator about 5 feet from us.... It magically stopped running around 4 am and the entire area cheered.  As long as you show proper respect to tent campers and do what you can to minimize the noise you should be alright with the cheaper one.

Isn't there rules about generators?  Don't they have to be turned off at a certain  time? I'm a tent camper and I have no problem with the generator's as long as they are turned off after midnight.  There was a guy one year that had a very old generator and attempted to run it all night.  I get it if you have a medical condition that requires it.  Put a sign up stating that, and  make an attempt to muffle the sound.  That is all my group has asked in the past.  Heck my mechanical engineer friend went over and helped one guy to get his to run better and quieter.  The guy saved money on gas, and we got a better night sleep, win win.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

We plan to arrive before 3:00 on Fridays. I looked on the website and found this specific info. So generators are allowed all night if you are not in the quiet family camping.

Noise Restrictions: In the Quiet Campgrounds, ALL NOISE (music, generators, loud voices) shall cease at 10 PM.
In the general camping, all amplified sound shall be limited to 85 Db at 10 feet, and shall cease at Midnight. Please note that generators, vehicles and musical instruments are not "amplified". If you need to run a generator all night for medical or comfort reasons, please be sensitive to your neighbors.

Last year I noticed a big "herd" of giant Winnebago type RV's toward the center, I think ill plan to get close to those guys!

i purchased this one last year just for fair to replace the loud one i have. this one is almost as quite as the honda and cheaper too. it has a 2 year warranty. I havent had any complaints. if there is someone withing 50 feet with a loud one you cant even hear mine running.  Yuo can find them cheaper. i caught it on sale and got it for right at $800 after taxes
They do m ake a smaller one. I have a 15k btu ac in my camper anf it will run it and the fridge without issues.
