Hi my name is Alice and i am looking for a place i can send my idea for a corset into?
i have a very exact idea for a ren fest corset but the prob is that no one is making it.
and im closer to sewing my foot to my face then making anything to wear.

is there a place that i can do this with?
1: send in a picture i drew of my self wearing the perfect corset along with color's and exact measurement's.
and when i mean exact i mean like 2o different measurements in every place i want it to curve in an out.
2: pay them, they make it , and hopefully not crazy expensive lol.

please email me or respond on this topic if you know of any places like this?
or if maybe you are a awesome seamstress your self, is there a way we can strike a bargai/price?

Alice, what area do you live in? Seamstresses are at their best if you can come for "fittings". Corsets can be tricky things and having it fit exactly to your body before it is "finnished" would probably be best. Maybe there is one in your area.

Hi, Alice!  Welcome to the forum!

There are some wonderfully-regarded seamstresses who absolutely do custom work as you're describing.

A couple of things, first:

1. Do you mean a corset (undergarment) or a bodice, meant to be seen by everyone?

2. "Crazy expensive."  Please understand that the construction of a garment like a corset or a bodice is very labor-intensive, and you're also going to be paying for the seamstress's skill and knowledge.  Bodices and corsets need to fit very precisely and require a lot of time, effort, and skill to create that personalized fit.  There are also specialty materials involved in the construction of these garments.  All of these factors contribute to the cost, particularly of custom projects.

As far as seamstresses who do custom work, try the Very Merry Seamstress (also a forum member!) or Odd Bodkin.  Both are highly regarded members of the Renaissance costuming community, with many very satisfied customers.

Hi Alice

#1. You said you have a bodice that you like now correct?
If this is true then you have a jumping off point! You can bring said bodice to a seamstress and work with them to create what you imagine.

#2. I too when I began to sew could not imagine making what I saw.  It does take time, and perhaps? This is just the hint that you need to create something for yourself!  We can help you with bodice patterns (Some are even free), so that you can attain what you really want!

#3. There are lovely ladies on this group who might be able to help you, Gem mentioned it, also? Check out the International Costumers Guild, SCA in your area and if you know of any Ren Guilds in your area? You might want to check them out as well. I am coming (come high water or snow or wait I am not the mail LOL) to MN in October for a workshop, if it happens keep a look out here in the Forum okay?

#4. Do bring pictures of you wearing the bodice along with bringing it to the seamstress so that they can see how it wears as well as a having it in person.

Good Luck!
