Come one, come all. The time has come to light the fire of Faire once
again. It is with proud pleasure that The Green Flame announce it's
third annual party to celebrate the opening of The Texas Rennaisance
Festival, and we would like to invite all of you, as we do every year
to come and enjoy the drinks, performers, and our company on October
11th (Saturday) at 9pm!

As always we pride ourselves in trying to strive for something a bit
better every year, and with that being said, The Green Flame will have
over 100 bottles of Loki that, we'd like to hope, have a few new flavors never before seen. They will be handed out as gifts to folks who attempt to help our wonderful little group along.
ID ofcourse will be required, as we do not want the party we throw for
you all every year to be cut short because we aided minors in the
consumption of alcohol. There will also be FREE drinks available in the
form of Dragon's Blood, Seafoam, and a few other mysterious
concoctions, not to mention we will be happily inducting folks during
and after the party in the wonderous Japanese Drinking Circle. So
please, come, play, have fun, and leave happy for that is what faire is
all about! HUZZAH!

Beyond that, we would also like to encourage any performers (or those
that would like to be) to contact us for information on dancing,
drumming, fire play, or anything that a crowd would enjoy. Not only
will we accomodate you with security to keep you and your things safe,
but we'll gladly feed you, house you, and get you into camping if we
are given enough warning of your arrival in advance. Feel free to bring
a donation jar so that you may be appreciated by the onlookers.

As for anyone interested in attending that may not normally camp or
does not have a group.... Look no further. While we are also throwing
this party, we are doing it with hopes of meeting new friends to take
part in our fun. We are a pretty active and close knit group. We go on
camping trips throughout the year as well as have scheduled monthly get
togethers and we are child friendly, while still managing to have a
good (<cough> Wild) time. We also share costs of food etc and come
together to lighten the monetary burden posed by the rennie/camping
lifestyle. So please, contact us if you'd like to see what we are
about, or if you'd like to attempt membership! (we're not scary, we
just like to make sure people get along with us all before we make you
a member!)

As for Directions:

If you are coming in from the camping gate entrance, turn right and go
towards the convenience store trailer. Then hang a right at the
trailer. Then turn left at the next possible road. After that, our camp
and party will be located on the right just before you cross the 4 way
crossroads!

If you're keen to the map found on this site, we are located in H and G 25 and 26.

We hope to see you all there!

I can attest that the Cult of the Green Flame celebration is a real blast.

Good performers, good drumming, and very nice drinks.

Okay, can I get my bottle of Loki now>

ScoutColt

Shhhh you were supposed to ask for that privately! Now everyone knows I bribed you!  :-\  :-\  :-\ Oh wait.... now everyone knows for certain.

Oh well, stop by anyways folks. It'll be a blast, and if ya wanna perform or do anything for fun let us know! And bring your drums. We loves our drummers and take care of them well. We enslave pretty women for that specific job actually... or handsome men if that happens to be your flavor!

Clann Dochartaigh will stumble in to say hello during highland fling (you will be there, correct?). After all, we're in the same neighborhood (we'll be at 18L).
Ar n Duthcas!

The Medieval Islander

Thanks, Colt!  We'll come by and hoist a few!

Please be VERY careful when you mention taking donations in trade for Loki.  TABC regularly patrols the campgrounds and they consider that selling without a license. :(

I'll try to stop by after I win the Loki contest at the Drunken Gnomes camp!  :o

Edited, and thank you. Our spokesperson (me) knew this, but for all my intelligence (or serious lack there of) I still didn't make sure it was worded properly so as to make it seem harmless enough.

And yah, we've had TABC in camp twice now due to the party and the free alcohol. Thats why we card, and we also have a stamp (if I can find it) that we use to clear people for the appropriation of alcohol.

LadyJessica

I word it this way..."It's been sooo long since I've seen you that I kept your birthday present with me until I knew that I'd see you again." And the person that I'm talking to generally responds in kind.  So you are gifting them Loki and they are giving you a monitory gift.  TABC can't say anything about gift giving.  ;D

Not a bad idea. At one time I wanted to be snide about it and say I was taking donations for cool looking wine bottles, and that the fluid inside was to preserve the bottle, but I'd heard some fools like to drink it. :-)

Lady Laura

I don't know Jess.  Our neighbor last year had a similar way around that, giving blessings it was, and he still got popped.  It is a good question though.  Does anyone know the specific law that they get you with?  I also remember years ago, my friend had a warehouse party in downtown Houston with bands and all.  He was giving away beer from kegs, but was charging a cover at the door.  The cops showed up, he explained that the money was going to the bands, and they still arrested him.

I imagine - especially at the campgrounds of TRF, they won't get too hung up on specifics. If any money changes hands or someone underage gets ahold of one of those bottles - it'll likely be arrest first and let the courts settle the finer points. Be ready to pass the hat for bail and legal representation.

Hmm. With the cops in and out of camp the last few years the party ran we've not had problems. We're up front about it and actually coordinate with them etc. THey have actually been quite happy with how we run things with the IDing and hand stamping. And the friend that got popped for blessings, if it's who I think it was, it had nothing to do with the money. He got stung on giving to minors. The money always has ways around it. Heck if it IS who I think it was, he was out selling the next weekend.

And the story about the guy having a party and getting busted for charging cover at the door... that sounds kinda shady. Not your friend... just the fact he got in trouble for that. We have strip joints and places all around houston that don't have liquor license so they are BYOB and you pay a cover to get in and see the ladies etc.

Mind you I'm still sure it could and would happen, but we're taking every precaution against it.

Lady Laura

Thanks for clearing that up ScoutColt.  You're right that it was a minor that caused the problems for our friend.  So all seems to be well in the land of libations!!!!  Now, how many more days do we have to wait?!  :)
